Tell me about charter arms undercover 38 special +P

I would rate the Charter arms higher in quality than Taurus and Rock Island. That said, all brands make trips back for factory repairs these days. I would purchase based on which one had the features I want. For example, if I want the smallest 6 shot 38 for concealed carry, the Taurus 856 would be at to top of my list.

Police Undercover is lighter.

Just an fyi. While shopping for a plinker snubnose revolver in 22, the charter arms hit my radar. Got one but am wanting different grips. Apparently, says customer service, all charter arms revolvers use the same grips.

IIRC there are actually two sizes based on frame size. But take a look at Altmont Grips.

Charter currently has three frame sizes to accommodate various cylinder sizes. But the grip-frame, being a separate part from the frame, is kept the same across all three frame sizes. Grip-frame is held on by two pins and one screw. Any CA grip will fit all CA revolvers.... except the the Dixie... which ain’t made anymore.
If your hands like, and can naturally point with one CA, chances are you’ll like all the other calibers too.

No range report I’m sorry to say. Ups screwed me. Said ammo was coming sat “ end of day”. Didn’t make it in. It’s coming tonight and I’ll have that report Asap

I am yearning for a .38 special revolver. Would love the Colt Cobra but for the obvious. When you say that "all brands make trips back for factory repairs these days," are you referring specifically to revolvers? Thanks.

In this case, yes. I’ve seen posts on this and other forums of more expensive brand new revolvers from Ruger and S&W needing service or adjustments in the last couple of years. In general, quality control doesn’t seem to be a high priority in the industry. Keep in mind, QAQC is not the same as a design flaw. I haven’t heard of any current revolvers having a design issue.

Well... the vast majority of the designs are proven. Whether it's true or not, gunsmith friend once told me that S&W has not significantly changed the guts of their Wheelguns since the turn of last century except to simplify it.

I have the exact same model as your 357 (2nd from bottom), but with a 6" barrel. I occasionally CC it with a fully enclosed black nylon OWB holster and because its so slim it actually covers up pretty well unless I'n in a tshirt and gym shorts. Its more of an HD and light trail gun though. Its always been a pleasure to shoot 357 trhough it even 1-handed, with 158gr loads. With any 38sp +P its an accurate pussycat for offhanded shooting. That long unshrouded barrel and light frame make a real sweet spot together. View attachment 893571

I’ve got to say I’m impressed. It’s a tack driver! 10 yard racketball size groups if I do my part. Great trigger. Sight picture is good. I’m thrilled. White bullseye 5 and just above the pink-5 group were more than common when I settled down

Awesome! I ordered mine yesterday — it should be here on Thursday. Looking forward to making some noise with it!! :)
