375 Ruger

$300 for a barrelled action in 375 sounds great! With the savings, I'd invest more in the stock. The difference in recoil control in shooting my 375s is night/day, given the correct stock. The McMillan hunter's edge is the lightest I'd go (and I'd put in cross-braces): https://mcmillanusa.com/mcmillan-rifle-stocks/ultralight-stocks-hunters-edge/

After trying several stocks, my favorite for 375HH is D'Arcy Echol's Legend (designed by D'Arcy, but made by McMillan) but good luck finding one. The McMillan hunter comes close.

One of my favorite rifles I own is my Ruger Guide Gun Ruger 375.
Absolutely worth every penny!
So good I am almost tempted to get one at 300 Win Mag but then why...?
The combination of the weight, engineering, awesome butt pad and muzzle brake make it a joy to shoot.
Sheer Fun!
Can't wait for squirrel season!

Thanks but you're talking about a Ferrari and I've got a Dodge Viper

As far as I can tell, there aren't many options for replacement stocks for the Patriot. Remember, it's a sub $500 rifle. Can't see McMillan building $600 stocks for it any time soon.

With the epoxy/shot mix cured, it feels pretty good. Added a bit under a pound and a half, but hasn't really changed balance. Still feels lively but now has some heft to it. I've ordered some Warne steel bases (Rem 700, we shall see) and I have some steel LaRue rings. Putting a Bushnell 1-4x24 on it for now and hopefully it warms up enough to go shoot.

I've loaded some Hornady Interlock 270s over 82.5 grs IMR4831 and 80grs IMR4350 to get a feel for it. Have some Lyman 375499 264 grs cast on the way as well.

Me neither. Bought a glass bedding kit several years ago and then never used it. The instructions were me-proof, and I just added shot. We'll see how it goes...
I've done it before, it's a good option for adding weight or changing the balance of a rifle. Works fine on wood stocks as well, simply bore a couple holes and add epoxy and shot.

Heh, I went the other way with my bedding additives. I added microballoons I got from a RC aircraft hobby store to thicken up the epoxy. The MBs also made the epoxy mix less dense, but still strong enough for the task. The laminated Boyd's stock was already going to add mass.

So, the Accriglass shot mix in the buttstock cured and it feels good. Put a Bushnell 1-4x24 that I had to hand as a short term solution. Will replace with something in the 3-9 range but I have to say, I like the small scope looks.

I dig it!l very rough and tumble ready, set up like that.

I've got a 3.5-10x40cds Vx3I on mine. Mostly because with the velocity the Ruger can deliver, I feel the higher magnification range and bigger objectives take advantage of the rounds versatility.
Im REALLY considering getting a Patriot to set up like that now tho as well.

I’m impressed with my Ruger M77 Hawkeye African .375Ruger every time I shoot it. It truly is “one rifle for the world”.
I bought it used. According to gun shop talk, local MD took it to Africa and took an assortment of plains game to include a Cape buffalo.

My favorite load is a thrill to shoot. VERY accurate, and not bad recoiling. It’s the recently re-introduced Hornady 225gr PtdSpt over 77.0gr of Reloader15. Hornady cases, Federal 215 primers. Runs about 2,800fps.

When I got the rifle, I made the rounds of the LGS, and found an astonishing assortment of bullets for pennies on the dollar. I now have essentially a lifetime supply of bullets.

Recoil isn’t as bad as my .300RUM. I shortened the stock and added a Pachmayer Old English brown Decellerator pad. It looks like it “grew” there. Recoil is about like a 12ga shotgun with duck loads.

For a rural Alaskan resident, the Mossberg sounds like a great choice.

I have a LH stainless Ruger with a laminated stock. There’s nothing I hunt that requires full-power loads so I load a NOE 260 grain cast HP at around 1900 FPS for deer here. Needless to say the one big doe I shot with one didn’t go very far.

On my big game (DG) rifles with iron sights I use scope mounts that are a bit higher than I would put on a clean barreled rifle. Seeing the front sight through the scope is more of an issue with the low mounts, and I find it bothersome. It does not bother some fellows much, others it does.

A rapidly accelerating butt stock slapping my face would be more bothersome than a front site post, in my book. But to each his own.

I’ve just found that many who think the 375 hit hard and don’t want to shoot it is because of a bad check weld, often from high scopes.

that scope alone should add a pound and a half....I can't remember what I weighed mine at, but it wasn't light lol

my 06ai is something like 10.5lbs, and the gun is just over 9.
