I know, I know... I am a diehard DA/SA guy... But, since the Glock 48 came out, it has caught my eye. And, I was impressed with the thinner width of the gun every time I held one. After buying that Beretta APX last June, striker fired guns sorta caught my attention again. NO, I haven't lost my mind and given up DA/SA - but, I'm willing to try striker fired guns again...

But, I didn't wanna buy the G48 without trying one first. I've bought too many guns over the years, and then regretted buying the gun after the first range trip... Well, my local range finally got one to rent, and I tried it out on Saturday. I was pretty impressed. I actually sold a gun over the weekend to cover the cost (basically, I broke even - money is tight for me right now, but I could pull that off), and I had the shop order me one.

I wanted one with the Ameriglo night sights, so I had to get one ordered. The night sights are almost identical to what I had installed on my APX.

Anyway, the gun is very accurate. I like the way it shoots, and it fits my hands better than the double stack G19. What I like it that while it is thinner, it's not TOO thin. The Shield and the XDe seem almost TOO thin. But, the width of the G48 fits my hands just perfect/ I only added a Hogue Jr grip to it, because I like rubber grips on most of my guns.

"Wow. I bought a Glock!"
Me too! And so far, I love it.:D
We drove clear up to Idaho Falls (about 80 miles) yesterday morning just so I could buy myself a Glock 44 (.22 LR). The gun stores in Pocatello (only about 30 miles) all seemed to be having a hard time keeping them in stock.
Anyway, it shoots great - almost a hundred rounds of CCI Mini Mags and Federal high velocity "Game-Shoks" through it so far, and no failures of any kind. It seems fairly accurate too, but that test will come later - after I'm not shivering because the thermometer is still hanging around in the mid-20s.

That's what's funny about this - my new toy fits my hand perfectly, it points as natural for me as any handgun I own, and from what I understand, it's the exact same size as a Glock 19. The fact is, because I like my new Glock 44 so much, I'm now considering buying a Glock 19 for EDC.:)

I recently bought a Glock too, though absolutely not a disciple of Gaston's design. I tried to love a G19 (2nd gen) many years ago and gave up trying. It was a great "size" but the ergos weren't there for me.
In my case, the police trade-in 4th Gen G22 complete with NS set me back $270 and is in a true VG condition. I bought it solely to serve as the host pistol for the Micro Roni and love it. The "hump" that turned me off the Glock design altogether doesn't bother me when held as a shouldered firearm.

BTW, very cool avatar. My Micro Roni may not be an FN P90, but I suspect Lieutenant Colonel Sheppard would approve all the same. :D

First it's one glock, then two. Then you leave them together and find they reproduced and you've got a baby glock on your hands, before you know it you're dual wielding g20s at the range and ripping on the dismal capacity of 1911s. It never ends, you screwed up...

Welcome to the club.

Actually, I have owned 5 or 6 Glocks over the years. But, it has been quite some time since I've had one :)

The 43x is what got me started on Glocks. Lots of people were criticizing Glock for the 43x and 48 because the Sig365 has more capacity but I hear A LOT of people saying how great the little Glocks fit their hands. And the new little Glocks have been super reliable. I’ve got 1200 rounds through mine with zero hiccups and that’s with 115gr Winchester white box for most of it’s break in. Then 150 rounds 124gr HST and 150 rounds 124gr +p Gold Dots. It’s by far my most trusted little gun.

Glocks are a wonderful tool. I have owned several and found them in most cases very reliable.

I had gone so far as to sell all of them off and was swearing off the kool-aid. But then I found a LEO G17 Gen3 for a $325 and decided to add one back. For me the G17 is one I can live with.

Yes, yes! Embrace the dark side young apprentice! Let it flow through you...

Seriously, enjoy! Regardless of looks, I shoot them the best and mine have always been 100% reliable with factory ammo.

Congrats on your new Glock 48. I've had mine a little over a month now. For me, it's the Glock I've been hoping for for 25 years. A great fit to my hand, far better than the Glock 23 I carried for all those years.

Congratulations! I spent many years absolutely loathing Glocks. Then I actually bought one. I consider selling it about twice a year, but the darned thing goes bang when it's supposed to. I thought I would love the G48 until I shot it. Maybe I need to go rent one again. Or wait for S&W to come out with its competitor to it. In any event, I hope your G48 serves you well. It does look like a great carry gun.

I myself steered away from Glocks long ago because they were too fat for my hands and uncomfortable to carry because of the width. I also steered away from anything that had a hammer or safety or decocker. I just liked the simplicity of a double actionish auto. I landed on Kahrs and carried them for years.

Having come from the school of carrying a cocked and locked 1911, I was never bothered by the lower mag capacity.

then the g48 came out. Pfft. It actually carries better than my kahr and available 15 round magazines. It shoots like a g19 with like mag capacity and carries a whole lot like an officers model. What’s not to like.

The thinner grip of the 48/43x sure does feel pretty good in the hand and I bet is much better for lots of folks who don't like the thick 17/19/whatever grip.

Congrats on joining the dark side.

Kinda strange that the 17 fits my hand good but somehow the 43x is not too small. It’s WAY better than any short grip gun like the 26.

The gen 5 19 fits my hand good but the thinner 48 is will be a lot easier to carry and with the new 15 round magazine It's a no brainer

I have to admit that those Shield Arms 15-rounders definitely change the calculus for me on the G48.

My first gun was a gen 3 17C that I sold a long time ago and then have owned many different brands over the years but now own 3 Glocks again a G29, G20 and Gen 5 G19. The Gen5 just fits hand great. I’ve started swapping some others for more Glocks. Gonna get a G45,17,48 or 43x next. I me be becoming a fanboy. Might be my mid life crisis

It'd been a long time since I've owned a Glock, but I had a 43 a few years ago that I seemed to shoot well. I traded it for a 365, didn't really regret it but then I came across a used 43X for a great price and I have to admit I prefer it over the 365. It carries just as easily for me and shoots great for me. I'm looking for a 48 upper now to have both barrel options. Congrats!
