Could I use this on the compass? It says it comes with 20mm mounts. Would I need anything else or just the scope and mounts? Not too familiar
I have thread about one of those....It actually did well enough to impress, tho it was ok optically at best.

My cheap scope recommendation are avoid cheap Simmons like the 8point as if they had the plague. They are one of the only lines of scopes I've seen pretty much always fail.

Also stay with relatively common power ranges, 3-9s, 4-12s, 6-18s, and get as few features as you can live with.

Bushnell has the Banners in a few powers, and those are functionally hit or miss with significantly more hits. Optically they are actually quite good when compared to other cheap scope.

The Trophy's are a step up and usually where I start actually recommending most folks begin looking.

Athlons base scopes, the Neos, offer very good optics and reasonably accurate tracking, but I've only had one for about 3 months now so can't say as to longevity.

The Weaver Kaspa are surprisingly good for the cost, tho again I only had one for a relatively short time.

Where I'd honestly be looking for a "cheap" optic, would be Nikon closeouts.
The plain "BDC" baddged scopes are usually around 80-100 bucks, and imo better than the buckmaster2s. After that I'd look at the P5s or something similar.

If your willing to wait, and spend more, than I'd highly recommend waiting for a Burris FF2s or E1 to come on sale.

Another option is to cruise eBay etc for older scopes.

Personally I like the Intensity 3.8(4)-12x44s, for cheap options as those usually go for 60-80 bucks and are basically Simmons 44mags with aspherical lenses.

I forgot to mention that if your only going to 500 or so I'd pass on the 20moa base, I don't know of any scope that won't give you enough elevation for 500 and in with a .223.

Hello there! Sorry, I'm a little late to replay to your thread. Although I have no experience in using the weapon you're using I go hunt with a 270 rifle which is perfect for shooting moving targets. I'm currently using the Vortex Optics Diamondback Second Focal Plane Riflescopes. The model has taken my hunting ability to an entirely new level. I've found this model from a list of 2020's top ten models at Spottingpro. According to my idea, this scope can be compatible with your weapon. You may try this out.

If you can spend a bit more I think Midway USA has my 3-9 Vortex for $150. I'm impressed with the quality of it for the money. And I've heard their warranty is one of the best in the business so that's worth something as well. But to answer your actual question, I don't think a super cheap(sub 150) scope is gonna do you any favors to be honest... Just realized this thread is a few months old but with deer season upon is I figured it might still help someone.
