I ordered a stainless buckmark udx, in the catalog you can see that the grips are supposed to be a dark laminate, but you can still see the grain, and they still look like wood.
On the gun i got the grips are so dark that they are solid black,
I called Browning, and they said that they all look like that, and that it was the lighting of the photos for the catalog that made it look lighter..
Do you think they're just brushing me off? Does anyone else have this model

No, it looks like they are laminate in the stock photo, and yours are obviously plastic or rubber. I wouldn't get too excited about it... the Buck is a great pistol, just go shoot it.

I have the exact same model as you. The grips on my buckmark are fairly dark, but you can see the grain under the bright light. So far, the gun has been a fantastic plinker after I installed an aftermarket firing pin.

Those are altamonts in the stock pictures. They must have a deal with Browning to do special grips for them.

Those don't look the same to me. I'd be disappointed like you. Did you send Browning a picture?

I am kind of surprised that customer service didn't offer you an exchange. A friend of mine bought a Winchester Model 70 about a year ago and found a few places where the lacquer or or varnish or whatever had pooled. The spots were both about the size of a pinhead. Customer service had him ship the rifle, and the gunsmiths there refinished the whole thing and returned it to him in under two weeks.

Actually they are laminate. Just much darker. You can see the grain in teh pic the op supplied.

Browning does not guarantee that you will get the exact grips that are shown in the brochure or on line. So if you buy sight unseen you get what they send you.
Now these grips are available in different shades on line and in gun stores and at gun shows. You can buy exactly what you want. You can then sell, trade or keep the set you now have. So no loss to you and a possible, and likely, gain.

Judging strictly on your pictures and description of the encounter, I’ll say they’re either misunderstanding you or lying to you. I’d call them back and show (maybe via email) the difference.

UDX only comes in laminate, it's a premium model.

Now that I'm looking at them on my big monitor, I can see a small coloration at the bottom of the grip.

My original Standard Buck came with plastic grips, they look very similar to what the top of the OP's grip looks like.

That's advertising for you. Burgers never look as good in the restaurant as they do in the ads either. Might get the grain to show more on those grips if they're buffed out with some 0000 steel wool.

In the pic the op shows of his grips they are clearly a wood laminate. He says they are the same grips only "so dark that they are solid black". That's an exaggeration because I can see the grain in them and a clearly light brown variation in the grain. The grips are not plastic or rubber they are, as the op says, laminate wood. He just received a darker color than he wanted.

When you buy a new gun from an online dealer, unless they offer and you specify a particular color of grips and type, they will send you what that model calls for from what they have in stock. That may mean, and usually does, a different color grip then the one in the pic.

I know a real estate agent. He was telling me that it's common nowadays for people to not to buy a home because they do not like the color of the interior of the house. Usually inexperienced buyers. He said that working class people tend to say "we'll have to repaint" and so later they do.

So here we have a fella who is disappointed that the grips he received do not match the color of the grips shown in the Browning brochure. I suppose he can send the gun back, and then send it back and forth a few times till he gets the shade of wood he wants. Or, because grips are cheap and easy to come by, he can just swap em out when he wants to for the ones he likes.

Just to clarify the first two pictures are stock Browning pics, correct?
And the last pic is what you received, correct?

Or am I mistaken in my assumptions?
