Thanks to the good people here, I found a Walker Colt for a good price. No, not an original, but a nice replica. Can't shoot it in NY because I would need a pistol permit for that. So yesterday had a fun day working at our three unit. On the way back we stopped at Eddies. Anyhow getting off track on my own thread. Got home and was working in my office and said to myself, I don't have a display stand for my Walker Colt. So I made one. It's Walnut from an old Head Board I found in the basement of our old house. Knowing it was walnut and thick, I saved it. Parked it right next to my Zenit. Will finish it in the spring when its not 20 in the garage. So here it is:

Who displays their black power pistols?

One can’t shoot black powder revolvers in New York with out some special permit.?? Is that the city or the whole state. Damn What’s the point in owning them.

Anyway my collection is split tween two states North and South. The wall case is in Rhode Island, the Florida ones just sit in a drawer in the garage. You can see my Uberti Walker third down on the left.

Sweet whubhett. Nice collection and nice display. In NY you have to get a pistol permit to fire black power revolvers. In fact if I own any of the components needed to fire, I would need a permit. So it sits on display.

Well there are many reasons to live where on does I suppose, and gun ownership is just a very small consideration.
Family and I were attracted to upstate New York for vacations years ago. It’s a beautiful area. Travel from R.I. thru NYC is an endurance test I do twice a year.
I go around NYC.

Mine are on display in a lighted cabinet in the Tank Room. My Favorite has a glass case with accessories on the main table in there. ( The LeMat )
regards!

i have been kicking around such a display box/case for a number of years now as a Christmas gift. Problem is I have three sons, grown men now, so need to buy three of everything you show in yours. I think this may be the year. Won’t be LeMats but 1851 Navies or 1860 Armies. Combining two hobbies wood working and firearms.
I’ve been running designs thru my head trying to design a box that can set on a table or hang on a wall with a French cleat.

I live near Syracuse now. Central NY is a very beautiful place. Although the state does its best to make it not so. Work pays me a bunch to do what I do and other than taxes, it has a fairly low cost of living. I do like looking a people displays of firearms and other things. I got the Walker due to a thread right here. I don't post to a lot of threads, but I sure do read a lot. Lots of knowledge here. Would be nice to see a bunch more handgun displays.

Maybe you can make a trip to Connecticut or Vermont and go shooting some time.
Or go shooting with a friend who has a permit.
Just random thoughts.

Wow, that is unbelievable. I was born in NY near Albany and then when I graduated college
moved away and never looked back. I still remember all the hoops I was expected to jump through
to get a 'pistol permit' in NY. What a crock. But, I was totally unaware that one
needed a pistol permit for black powder. When I lived there my friend's neighbour's
kid, who was 17 at the time, owned a flintlock pistol and used to shoot it with us.
He didn't have a permit or anything for it. But, that was almost 40 years ago.
I heard that the Mini 14 I bought in Schenectady in the late 70's is now
a banned rifle from what I am told and the two 30 round mags that came with it
are now illegal in NY. I'm just glad I now live in the deep south.
I mean, even in countries like Hungary and Poland you can own and shoot black powder
revolvers.

Did you make that display case yourself?

Man, I have got to get in the cap and ball revolver game.
Been saying I'm going to for years. Haven't gotten around to it.
The additional perk of black powder firearms is in the free states of the US of A they can be mailed directly to ones domicile. That and the general lower cost makes them easy to acquire. Once loaded, accuracy and power is on par with many metallic cartridge arms. More bag for your buck. :)

Why do folks want to live in totalitarian states like New York or California, or keep electing government representatives that make life difficult for folks like us? Really makes me scratch my head in total cornfusion.

Family jobs and they don’t know any other life. Firearms are, at least IMO, a very small part of life in general. Although I my self have spent the better part of my life in a blue state it at least has a carbon copy of the US Constitution including the 2nd.

Good Morning,
Here you go, Whughett, The rifle at the end is a 48' Mauser in 8mm, the MP40 next to it is one of these Umarex makes. Full Auto or Semi-Auto BB ( Too Much Fun to be believed ) and the long gun next to it is a Crosman Pump .22 pellet gun from the 70's ( Yes, I have way too many replica airguns and a couple of real old classics too...check out the airgun forum if so inclined to see all of that ). There is a Ruger and a Luger semi auto but those are kept close to us for emergency use. The little town we live in is unincorporated , no law enforcement of any kind closer than 30 miles away. We like to say that we live a hundred years ago up here.
regards and have a great day!
