For my 223 bolt action I was looking for a cheaper one maybe 6-9 under $50-60. but for my 308 I think I am definitely gonna save up for a Harris. That’ll probably more of an 8-12 or in that range.

The lure of “good enough” has caused me to accumulate a pile of cheap chinese (<— can I still say that?) knockoff bipods. Some are broken, others were just to rickety to even use

Save up and get a Harris or save a bit more and get an Atlas. You’ll be money ahead

I don't know of any reason why your .223 deserves sub standard equipment. I shoot my .223 the same way I shoot my .308, the only difference is the size of the projectile and a bit less recoil.

What are you going to be doing with this rig? I really like shooting off of a bipod, but have had just as much success with shooting off of a back pack when in the field. If money is tight, just save up for one good bipod that you can transfer from one rifle to the other as the need arises.

There really are some things that you shouldn't skimp on. It's really kind of funny to see the people show up at the range with their very expensive AR on top of a very cheap bipod and cursing the rifle because they can't get it sighted in.

I have both a sitting and a prone harris from back when. but if I didn't and budget was tight I would simply use wooden cross sticks. (black powder period correct style) one could make a set of them inexpensively, and they are super sturdy. dc

The China ones are fine for a 22 rifle, I have one it works but it's not a harris. I don't even use my bipods much anymore for hunting, unless I know I'll be sitting over a big hill,. I like one for my 308 when prone. For hunting I found I can hold my gun on a deer at 300yards or so all day without the bipod. I've shot a lot off my backpack to.

I just bought a Caldwell 6-9 for my AR 7.62x39. Tried it Saturday and it worked fine. I would call it a static bipod. Meaning that there is not any (or much) flexibility for the rifle to get level on an uneven surface. But, from a table it worked fine for me. I was still canted just a little since the table was not absolutely flat. While you can move a leg up or down, it does not have the granularity to make fine adjustments. I do not own a harris or Atlas so I cannot offer comparisons. Seemed sturdy and handled the recoil.
