Just won a Taurus 856UL off of Gunbroker, paid for it and had my LGS send the FFL info so it can be shipped here, now my favorite store is closed, the other FFL close to me has been closed for 3 days now.
I live in a very rural part of Michigan, are things really that bad?

I am in west MI and my gun shop says they will hang on to my gun but they are not sure when they can have me come in. It is annoying.

I think the point is strong measures now to prevent becoming like Italy. If you wait, it is too late.

Hope the stores can open up in a few weeks!

They're not "that bad" here - at least not yet. In another thread I posted about driving to town (Pocatello) yesterday to pick up the new Smith 638 I ordered from a LGS last Tuesday. Then, while I was still in town, I drove over to Sportsman's Warehouse to check on the ammo supply there. I didn't need any, but I was curious. As far as I could tell, Sportsman's was out of 9mm, and they were poorly supplied with 38 Special (just some "Cowboy" stuff left), but they had plenty of rimfire - I picked up another box of Super X 22LR "just in case."
Anyway, neither the LGS or Sportsman's was particularly crowded. There were two other customers (that I saw) in the LGS when I got there, and probably a half dozen or so in Sportsman's - only two of which were looking at reloading components.
The owner of the LGS told me, "My wife sure hopes this 'social distancing' is over soon. She wants me to let her back in the house!"

The only thing I'd be concerned with is whether or not someone is at the FFL location to accept shipment so it doesn't bounce back & forth.

Not being able to complete the transfer at the FFL because the shop is not open to the public should just be a waiting game if it has at least been delivered.

Todd.

In rural Michigan myself right now..no cases in our county at all....my FFL is hidden in the back of a one man car repair garage.....no problem there.

About Italy, most of the leather and fabric factories in northern Italy are owned by Chinese, and over the years they have brought in over 100,000 people from, guess where......Wuhan province,,,home to the virus,,,they live and work in tightly congested places, like sardines....so totally different situation.

A doctor was on the Michigan governor’s site the other day,, he had tested positive,,,,rested, now tests negative.. He says it just seemed like he was over tired, no other symptoms. He also said most people that test positive can not really be helped by staying in the hospital...just go home and stay isolated......of course, if you have underlying conditions, that is different.

I was in the same boat. I had a winning bid on GB and I had an FFL lined up and talked to them before I won. Said they would do it. When I won I went to FFL and they were closed indefinitely. Found a FFL who would do it but 2 days later all non essential businesses where closed down. They said they'd accept delivery but transfer may be delayed. The uncertainty of how bad it will get does fuel a lot of fear. New York city area is by far the worst hit and here in southern Ct numbers are skyrocketing. All we can do is isolate, be smart, calm and do some projects around the house/yard to keep busy. I feel for all the sick and out of work people and wish everyone here the best during this historic moment.

If you bid on a Taurus, it is getting bad
I’ve always had good luck with Taurus, their customer service , not so much.
I’ve bought 6 Taurus’s so far, only one I’ve had to send back(took a lot longer than it should haven’t repair).
Nice part is, my FFL reopened today, pretty much told our county commissioners to F off.
They unless the Governor of the state walked in and told them to shut the doors, they’re staying open.

Our problem isn’t closures - it’s lack of stock. My LGS is bare, and he’s having a hard time getting new stuff in.

I stopped by Home Depot yesterday and there was a crowd of about 10 people lined up in front of the store. I found out they were standing around waiting to get in since Home Depot was limiting the number of customers they allow in the store at one time.

I guess it is OK with Home Depot if you catch the covid 19 virus in front of their store as long as you don't catch it in their store! Home Depot has always been a bunch of idiots... it must come from the top!

My wife works for a medical testing lab. Part of her job is to call in positive test results to state authorities. Last week she started with three positives on Monday. On Friday she called in eight. Today she had 30-something. The epidemiologist at her lab thinks things will keep getting worse until mid May or so.

My friend at the LGS was selling everything he could get his hands on for the last couple of weeks. Our county ordered all "non-essential" businesses shut down as of today, though, so I guess he is out of luck for a while.

When I went to Academy late last week they had almost no ammo left at all.

Nope! The real idiots are the ones bunching up in front of the store.

It's been an eye-opener for many new gun buyers in Illinois. They thought they'd walk in to a gun store and purchase a gun. Instead they wait in long lines and when they get up to the counter they're informed that they'll have to apply for an Illinois Firearms Owner ID (FOID).

The Illinois system is so overwhelmed right now that it will be December before these new applicants get their FOIDs.

Things will get worse before they get better but they will get better. I'm rather lucky that my FFL is also a pharmacy so he'll be open, unfortunately the range is closed.

Interesting combination. OTH, the guy I use for FFL transfers is primarily an auto repair shop.

My favorite dealer is shut as a result of the government mandated closures here, but will make an appointment to do a transfer.

I was informed that even after mine opened back up, no more than 15 persons could be inside at anytime.
A Gun store with a doorman now.

I live in a rural-ish area north of Detroit. The local gun shops here have remained open. Not much ammo on the shelves, but still have firearms. And the one I do business with regularly still has a fresh pot of coffee going for us "regulars"

I live in Northern Oakland County...most of the LGS are open by appointment only but the rush was last week on the guns. Ammo in popular calibers especially 9mm/12gauge/5.56 disappeared but there was still a lot of others on the shelf.

Here in Alabama, gun stores are essential businesses, and most remain open. The largest in the area, Larry’s P&P, still has plenty of ammo in the desirable calibers, but is rationing so that all have a chance to buy. And prices appear to remain at pre-crisis level. It, too, has a doorman to ensure compliance with health guidelines. We are truly fortunate to be living here in North Alabama.

My indoor ranges I have with yearly memberships are closed. A few days ago, my Outdoor Range/Club sent out membership renewals. Sent in my couple of hundred dollars, then today, they emailed me back and said thanks and Club and range is now closed because of the Virus. I guess that was great timing on their part.
