What was your first gun, and do you still have it?

Western Auto Revelation 12ga Pump with something like a 30'' full choke barrel. Shot a lot of trap and a lot of pheasants, including my first pheasant with that shotgun. My BIL bought it for me to use for like $25 and when I turned 18 I wanted a new shotgun and gave that back to him. Worst thing I ever did. I asked my sister to ask him if I could buy it for $100 and she said no.

First gun was a Daisy model 95B, and I still have it but I kind of shot it to death as a kid. I think its missing the wedge on the rear sight and maybe one other part.
First gun I bought myself was a marlin 81TS .22 rifle. Its a tube fed bolt action. I did some tweaking on the trigger and played with the torque on the stock bolts and its a pretty good shooter. I still have it and its my go to .22 rifle.

swamprat, was your gun made by Mauser at Oberndorf, or one of many other manufacturers that produced the Sportmodell or other mauser-type trainers? If not apparent on the gun, I can get you some source info. I had one that was made by Walther, and still have one made by Anschutz.
Oberndorf, I believe. I was in Boy Scouts with a guy named Oberndorf and if I remember right I thought it was funny that Obie's name was on my gun. I'll check when I get home tonight and maybe pop a few quick pictures. Sadly someone, before Dad got his left handed mitts on it, drilled and tapped the receiver for a scope.

Ruger 10/22 bought in 1980 or 81 and yes, I still have it. Bought a second stock to cut down for my kids to use. Oldest is deadly with that thing. Ice in her veins.

Unfortunately, I don't still have the first gun I ever owned. It was a Remington Targetmaster .22 rifle. It was given to me by a friend of my parents when I was 10 years old and had just moved from Cub Scouts to Boy Scouts. I "paid it forward" about 15 years ago, giving it to the son of a friend of mine, who was turning 10 and going into Boy Scouts. It was a great rifle.

My first was co-owned with my brother; a J.C. Higgins single shot .22. Don't really know what happened to it, but my guess is that it is gathering rust and dust in my brother's closet. The good news is the single shot Iver Johnson .410 that I grew up shooting was my dad's and is now mounted on a barn board and hangs on a wall in my gun room with an engraved plaque below it that says it is dedicated to my dad who taught me to shoot. It was about 65 years ago that I killed my first squirrel with it.

My first gun was a Glenfield model 25 bolt action .22 that my Dad got me. It's still mine, and until I croak it will continue to be mine. My first pistol was a H&R .22/.22WMR revolver which I also still have.

Savage Model 120 single shot .22S/L/LR; basically the old J. Steven 'Springfield' Model 15. Got it when I was 12. I found it when I recently moved my mother from NC to AZ to live with us. Gonna clean it up and take it to the range when all this COVID-19 crap is over.

The first gun I bought with my own money was a Mossberg 500. I bought it from my high school history teacher who had a FFL. That was in 1975. I still have it. I also have the Ruger 10/22 that I received as my graduation gift.

Mine was a Marlin 336CS in 30-30. It was pretty rough and I'm sure Dad bought it cheap for me to hunt the deer that were beginning to repopulate the Lookout Mountain area where his dad's farm was. He later unceremoniously took it and traded it for a Remington 870 for Grandpa. Now me, 15 and without a deer rifle, he bought a Browning BLR in .243, which I shot my first deer with. I still have it, and always will. I quit missing the Marlin after he got the Browning, but have bought a dozen or so since then.

First was a S&W 2206 and is still with me going strong. Would have to find the paperwork though possibly '85-'86. Second was the Maverick 88 12 ga. pump, still with me. After that was the S&W 586..

Marlin 60. Still have it & still shoot it. Looking back its been through two ecoil springs, one buffer, a trigger assembly, and most recently the piece which holds the magazine tube to the barrel. I think it might be related to the 30k+ rounds fired through it, but who knows? You would suprised how easy it can be to shoot through a brick in an afternoon when the stuff was everywhere and cheap. Always wished Marlin had a conversion to use 10/22 mags because I never liked the Ruger and couldn't bring myself to swap guns.

Mine was a Remington 521T and still have it as I don’t sell firearms. Still one of my most accurate.22’s. It’s going to be my sons first rifle when he gets old enough.

Dad bought me a Mossberg 600AT for pheasant hunting as my first real gun after graduating from pellet rifles, still have it. I don’t use it anymore, but it still sits in the safe. My second one he bought me was a Winchester 255 22 mag that I regretfully sold when I was young and didn’t know any better.

My first rifle was a 521 too, paid for it with money from selling jack rabbits for mink food. Got .25 @ for the rabbits. Foolishly I traded it for a cheapo Winchester automatic in 1964. Wore it out in about a year and traded it for a new Browning 22 auto. Still have it. After some years I realized what I had in that 521t, not the Jr. Special either, and after about 50 years of looking, I finally found one that was nice enough and not so high in price that I bought one back again. It doesn’t shoot as well as I remember my first one did, but I was 16 years old when I parted with it and now I’m 72! That might have something to do with it?
