So I just got a new powder drop setup. First thing I noticed was that the powder hopper is frosted. Don’t have any rifle rounds to load..cause well the whole stupid virus has had everything shut down.
Anyone know if they frosted it to keep powder from sticking to the hopper walls? 1st pic is the new hopper the second is one of my other hoppers I originally bought, which was clear.

The frosted plastic may be a different material than the clear reservoir.

Or it may be a cost cutting measure from Hornady.

Time will tell once you place the frosted reservoir in service.

The old ones tended to discolor and warp if you left powder in them (my Lee powder measure never did). I wonder if this is any better in that regard?
Curious to see if it discolors also like my other ones, i always empty out after every use too.

I had to degrease mine twice. It will also start to discolor over time. Enjoy the new tool!

It could be the Hornady got tired of complaints about clear hoppers turning dark, due to gunpowder deteriorating the hopper, and decided to issue them frosted.

Corporations are very good at manipulating society for their own ends The cigarette filter is an example. Chemicals were added to make the filter turn dark when exposed to tobacco smoke. Customers thought this meant the filter was screening out harmful substances, but it was all an illusion. Any filter that protected the consumer would also filter out nicotine, and nicotine addiction is why people smoke.

My 25 year old Hornady hopper doesn't look as bad as Slam's, but it's pretty dark... but nothing I'm going to get testy about, I figure it took me 25 years to get it properly 'seasoned.'

I swapped that drop for the newer Hornady drop a few years ago, first thing I did was etch the bottom half up with TiteGroup left in for 24 hours. Oh, well...

That Pyrex one looks interesting...

I’d buy Dramworx hoppers for all my powder measures but what it would cost to get them up here would be stupid expensive.
