Anyone have any experience mounting a Sig Romeo 1 on a 10mm? I just switched from a Vortex venom on a Springfield XDM because I like the instant on with motion detection on the Sig. I ran about 2.5 magazines through it and the dot died. Replaced the battery and no joy. I have seen a couple other reviews where people had issues with the 10 and this sight, wondering if the recoil is just too much for it.

I have set it to be returned and another one is on the way. Will be very dissapointing if it can't handle the 10mm, as over all I like the sight and really like the instant on feature.

How old is the sight? I bought a P320RX maybe 4 years ago and the sight never worked well, cutting out from time to time. It was recently replaced, and per Sig's customer service the early ones had this problem. I only have a couple of hunderd rounds through the new one so the jury is still out. If yours is an older one I'd contact Sig, and they should send you a replacement. I believe the warranty period is 5 years. It would be disappointing if it's a newer one. I'd also make sure the battery cover is tight, as that could cause the sight to cut out.

I received it about a week and a half ago. Battery door was good and tight, made sure of that before I took it out. Replaced battery and made sure it was tight. Would not even come on after the new battery.

FWIW, I dropped my Glock 26 off this afternoon at a LGS who's also a gunsmith. He's milling the slide for a Venom as it's replacing my P320RX. The gun (P320) has been fine, but I've lost confidence in the sight. Hearing your issue confirms this decision for me. I'd contact Sig regarding your issue.

It was an Amazon purchase, so I did the return gig this evening. New one will be delivered Thursday. No idea when I will get out to shoot it, as my land is 1.5 hrs away, and no ranges are currently open. Mayhap this one was just a lemon. New one will tell the tale. If it craps out I most certainly will be getting a hold of Sig. I have several Romeo 5's and have had zero issues with them. One of the best bargains in red dots IMO.

I had high hopes for the 1. Hopefully the new one will work out the way it is supposed to.

I liked the Venom well enough, the only thing I did not like is no instant on. On a carry gun it makes no sense to me to have to stop and turn your sight on. Grab it and it should be ready to shoot. I don't have a lot of rds on hand guns, so my experience with them is very limited. I have a couple Burris fast fire's on 22's that work well, but once again no instant on feature.

I agree, but I'll carry it with the sight on. The battery life is 150 hours on the highest setting and 30,000 hours on the lowest setting. In bright sunshine I can see the dot when set on a middle setting, so the battery should last a few thousand hours. Batteries are a little over a dollar, so I can change them frequently, before they go out. I'm also installing suppressor height sights as a back up in case they do go out or the sight somehow fails.
