What was your favorite Shotgun

This is my current favorite, a Western Field Model 30 (Stevens 520a) that I recently rescued.

My Browning Superposed 12 ga was my favorite, although the Superposed and Citori profile guns don't fit me well. It was "lost" in Customs during an international move.

I have several clays guns that I like very much, but they are just tools.

My favorites are the Remington 11-87 and my Mossberg Maverick 88. The 11-87 was the first shotgun I fired as a young adult (I shot an old single shot .410 as a young boy), and the maverick 88 is my old clay buster. I beat many a fancy pants shotgun with that ugly rattle trap.

Of pumps, the 16 ga. Model 97 my Dad had. he sold it to my cousin and has since tried to buy it back many times. My cousin's son now has it.
My all-time favorite: Ljutic Mono Gun. It took me 40 years to get one, and I plan on keeping it

After a dad's stroke I was looking for his Parker and could not find it, he GAVE it away I was told so it took me 3+ yrs to get it back, I finally did a 200 mile drive after work and got it back home it had not even been used and was given away another time, I was very lucky, many stories with that Parker in my life. One very odd thing it is a 32" full and full hammerless with extractors locks up tight like new but no more wear on top lever left, dad was very lacking with lube.

Adding mother got the Parker before ww2 in Ft Worth Tx for $18 for dad a present she had $20 to spend and spent $1 each way on a bus to get it brought it home rolled up in a sheet, there is no blue left on it all patina no rust at all, the safety had been used so much all the checkering lines are worn smooth, one of the worse hurts in my life was discovering dad had given it away and I am only family that cared about it, I had to leave as I could not even speak when I found out.

A GREAT story with an un-happy ending.

Todd.

two that i use alot for walking for small game, a older light weight 870 pump 20 ga and a older browning BSS sporter double barrel in 20 ga also. i sure have shot alot of game with them over the years, with 1 oz #6 and 1-1/8 oz #6. i thousands of shells fired with out any problems all, only normal cleaning after the hunt.

I have too many to actually pick which is my favorite. I enjoy all of my 410 shotguns. I would like to get a SxS and an auto to round out the collection. I have the old reliable single shot, Mossberg bolt action, Mossberg 500, Mossberg Shockwave and a Turkish O/U.

The only Shot gun I own is a Remington 1100 that my Father owned and I had customized by Michael LaRocca into his model 18-8.

After thinking about it, I would have to say the Mossberg 500E. I base that on which of my 410s I use the most. The 500 has seen the most use, it has been my goto shotgun since 1985.

The title asked what “was” my favorite shotgun, so, my early-Eighties Ithaca Model 37 DS Police Special “was” my favorite shotgun. When I was hired my a PD, the 37 was not an approved duty shotgun, so I sold or traded the Ithaca, and bought an S&W 3000, which was nice, but not a favorite.

Now, for what “is” my favorite shotgun: Benelli M2 Field, 12 gauge, with the Comfortech stock. With more than a 30-year gap between the two, I really cannot answer whether I would favor the Ithaca or the Benelli.

Remington M-17 circa 1922 my Grandfather's favorite 20 ga, mine too. Has taken countless upland game: grouse, woodcock, pheasant, rabbit, and squirrels. Back in the day a couple of ducks with lead 5s. Will never sell it, am grooming my granddaughter to take up hunting, it's hers!

I've handled a 20 ga. Nice light upland gun, neat action, but the action is very slow. The sliding breech does take about a pound off. The one I held (at a gun show) was about 5.5 pounds. Not terribly expensive either. Of course, the 28 would be.

Ithaca 37,remington model 12 and model 500 Mossberg the first two I learned to shoot ducks with. they are my dads. I don't think he has either anymore. But the 500 was the first I bought myself and its like part of my arm. after 20 years its not a smooth as the two older guns. but its been through a lot and keeps on shooting.
