First build, everything went fine until I went to screw the set screw in and the head stripped. Can’t get the screw out there’s still a bit of the screw left. Could I just cut the trigger guard than cut the trigger guard in half leaving the screw and piece of trigger guard and pull it out?

I'm sure you could, but maybe you could use a soldering iron to push the screw the rest of the way in.

What is it, a hex screw? My trigger guard came with a roll pin, but it's old. if it's a hex did you try to see if you could get a torx bit to bite enough to do something with it?

I looked at mine, it is a set screw. Well, try the above. If it won't work, the soldering iron will heat the screw until the plastic melts and you might be able to get it in.

yes it’s a hex I did try a torx size 7 too big maybe I’ll try a 6. I also heard you can epoxy a Allen key into the set screw to get it out.

How much of the set screw is sticking out? Can't grab it with a pair of vice grips or something? Shoot, is it a pristine new lower or all banged up from use? You're gonna risk dinging it. Honestly, I'd write that trigger guard off. I'd use a soldering iron, or maybe anything that you can heat up and see if you can get that set screw hot enough to melt the plastic trigger guard just to get it out of there.

Or...find a drill bit and see if you can get it to grab the set screw and just finish screwing it in. If you can get it on, odds are you'll never mess with it again. Mines been in there for 10 years.

I did the same thing with the first plastic Magpul trigger guard I installed. I think using a soldering iron to remove it is a pretty good idea.

Unless your pistol grip has a duckbill, the trigger guard I like better than the Magpul is the Forward Control Designs TGF. It fills in the gaps better, smoothing out the transition from trigger guard to lower. It's made of anodized aluminum and it's a quality piece. I have two of the winter trigger guards. I find the FCD TGF more comfortable than the Magpul trigger guards.

I've had this happen to several of the Magpul trigger guards. The wrench they send with it sucks, using their supplied wrench is when it happened to me. I've installed a few with my good wrench set and didn't have any problems with them stripping. My advice at this point would be to use a dab of JB weld on the end of their junk wrench, let it set in the screw for a day, remove the set screw and move on.

And the jb weld will hold? The head is pretty stripped.
