Do the new ones both have the same internals? How is the DA & SA triggers on them? Each in its own way if they are different.

Thanks

I have the KC Target and love the action, but not the grips. With 38 WCs it handled good, but with magnums the grips allowed the gun to roll back, like a SAA. The trigger guard bit into my finger. I'm one of the few with hands too big for the grips. Put on Pachmayr presentations which covered the end of the guard.

Now I'm waiting for Colt to get caught up on production on the Python and will buy a 6".

Still waiting to hear whether the hand is tensioned against the cylinder at the moment of ignition. Every article I’ve seen on the new Python somehow fails to discuss this.

Whether or not there is any pressure (and would it not be compression?) it is said that the cylinder's rotational alignment at the moment of firing is not managed by the hand, and that change was made to eliminate the long-standing problem of old Colts RE: timing.

I'm the wrong person to reply but here goes. I just bought a KC target and haven't had a lot of time shooting it because of the virus thing.
So far I've been very impressed but can I compare it to my 45 year old Python, not hardly, quit shooting full house magnums out of my Python probably 30 years ago. This is the most accurate handgun I own, after shooting it for all these years the trigger pull is like glass and is as smooth as silk. Can't give an honest evaluation. Sure am happy I scrimped and saved for that Python so many years ago.

I can say my 3 inch KC locks up TIGHT!!!!
Mine does also. I have been waiting to purchase the new Python, but if one of the King Cobra Targets presents itself first, I'll definitely pick up one as well. Based on my two Cobras and my King Cobra, I'm really starting to like the new Colt revolvers.

In response to the OP, I can't speak to the internals, but my three (new model) Colts all have exceptional triggers, just really smooth in DA and so light and crisp in SA.

I've got both a 2020 Python, and a 2019 Cobra..(not a KC target). They both have outstanding triggers. The internals are different, but I'm afraid I can't tell you the difference. Such things are above my pay-grade. I'm a Smith and Wesson guy, but the Python has quickly become my favorite revolver, and I like the Cobra light years more than any J-frame revolver I've ever owned.

I’ll second the Cobra becoming a favorite small frame revolver, mine is much smoother and easier to shoot than my SP101 .38, and my S&W models 49 and 442.
I would love a new 6” Python, but I had to replace my old pickup and the new monthly payment :what: is going to put a huge damper on my future gun purchases for a while.

Colt seems to be doing a great job with the last three revolver reintroductions, I hope they keep them rolling out!

Stay safe.

Both the new Cobra/King Cobra and the new Python use transfer bar safety/ignition actions derived from the Mark III/original King Cobra.
The new Cobra/King Cobra use a "Vee" spring to power the hammer only, and the hand presses the cylinder into a lock up similar to the old Colt "Bank Vault" lock up.

The new Python is also a transfer bar action but is radically different then anything Colt has ever made before.
It uses a large "Vee" type spring to power the hammer and the hand through a bar that fits where the old Colt Python had the rebound lever.
The hand forces the cylinder into tight lock up like the old Bank Vault Colt actions, but in a way that's much stronger then the old hand system.

If we could just get a “ push” type speedloader for these cobra’s I’d be happy man. HKS are serving me well but sho’ nuff would use a comp2 if it works!

Nice to hear about someone who actually still gets to shoot their collectible Python. The prices very recently would make me reluctant to shoot one even if I had the money to get one.

Finally, an expert opinion on this matter!!!!. Thanks.

Jess, if you have a Sportsman's Warehouse store near you, check out their website. They are showing Pythons, both barrel lengths, in stock now, at MSRP. I ordered a 4.2 inch one yesterday. They say it will be at their store in Roanoke, Va., by May 6.

They will only ship to Sportsman's Warehouse, so you have to have one close enough to you, in your state, to be willing to drive to.

They left Kansas about 15 years ago. Closest one is in Iowa. Thanks for the tip. Might help someone else.
