So this is my take on the A2: it is a 1911 that I didn't know I wanted (until I saw the OP's excellent photo). It represents that hackneyed phrase so well: Everything you need, nothing you don't. And I'm glad DW is back to doing pistols in other than shiny stainless (though I do like their offerings). I gotta admit, the uncluttered slide is a beautiful thing itself (as the OP notes) in its simplicity. Below is a simple DW compared to a Colt.

I am desperately searching for a CBOB like that. Back in my younger years when I actually sold guns I sold one. Now every one I go to purchase someone has put a huge idiot scratch on. Great gun.

No shock here, my Dan Wesson Valor likewise is a tack driver and functions flawlessly. And I can attest like to the craftsmanship, and it certainly is a smooth shooter.
