About a month ago I got a NIB 610-3 6.5" 10mm revolver. I really like the pistol and I plan on deer hunting with it, think bow range only. For me the pistol is a little big and heavy to shoot accurately off hand. I'm much better shooting it off any improvised rest I can come up with.

Without touching the sights at all, they are set just as they were when it left S&W at 25 yards it puts shots dead on with any factory 180fmj I've tried. The Underwood 180gr GDHP shoot center but a few inches low and so did the Hornady 155XTP load.

I decided to try some Underwood 200gr XTP as for deer I've seen very positive results. And I think i found the magic. At this point I'm done monkeying around and leave it well enough alone. Now just keep practicing. The low shot was my 3rd and I'm positive I dropped it because I was so happy with the first two. 20200502_111527.jpg

Very nice! A 610 has always been high on my wish list.

I’ve got a pair of Ruger single actions chambered in 10mm. You might be surprised at the effective range of the 10mm from a revolver. I can hit a 10”x12” plate at 50 yards offhand pretty easily, and at 100 about half of the time.

I sold my 610 a year ago. It was the most accurate double action revolver I have ever owned, even better than my Lew Horton M-29 with 6" full underlug barrel, silhouette sights and un fluted cylinder. It was just bigger than I wanted. Wish they made them on the "L" frame. Currently the most accurate revolver I own is a FA 353.

My 610 is showing to be a very accurate revolver and I haven't even loaded for it yet. It seems to group every bullet I've tried accurately albeit to a slightly different POI. Right now I'm very happy with it and I'm not touching a thing. It's a better shooting pistol than I can shoot it for sure.

My Gp100 Match Champion 10mm revolver is the most accurate handguns I own. And I own a lot of handguns...

I have the same revolver, a 610-3 w/6.5" barrel, and yeah it's a real tack driver with any kind of improvised rest or something to brace against. I've shot many balloons at 100+ yards with mine, using both 10mm and .40S&W. :)

I have a 610 no dash with an 8 3/8" barrel.
This is the pistol I want to be buried with.

Excellent shooter, amazingly accurate, completely irreplaceable!!
Besides the children won't miss one will they?

Totally unrelated, but where exactly are you planning on being laid to rest, and how is the soil up there? :D;)

Did not know they made a 8-3/8-inch 610. I though all the no dash 610's were either 3-7/8-inch or 6.5-inch The new ones are 4-inch and 6.5-inch.

This is my 610 (no-dash) 6.5-inch. This is my hunting rig but I originally bought my 610 for USPSA Revolver division and spend about five years shooting it in Competition. When I upgraded to a 625 and then shortly after that the rule changes drove me to a 627 the 610 became my hunting revolver. I picked up a M29 (configured the same as the 610, 6.5-inch full under-lug barrel) and now that will be my hunting revolver and I am not sure how much the old 610 will get used.

I am glad to see I am not the odd or ugly duckling well I may still be ugly but not odd but I am still not alone LOL. I just love a 10MM in a revolver. I am so blessed to have friends that love the 10MM also and have loaned me many of them to test and evaluate. http://www.dayattherange.com/?page_id=6173

Ahhh 10MM Revolvers --- I can't believe how many choices there are today. Thanks for sharing yours with us.

This is sort of my dream revolver but also S&W needs to respond to the relatively new Ruger GP100 in 10mm Auto with an L-frame in 10mm Auto. I love my S&W 610 but the N-frame is really too big for only a 6-shots of little old 10mm Auto. (you could make it a 7-shooter on an N-frame if you wanted) but I would love to have an L-frame as a 6-shot 10mm Auto. S&W almost got there year ago with the S&W 646 a 6-shot L-frame in 40S&W but the titanium cylinder made 10mm Auto less than optimal due to extraction issues, it was probabilistic enough with 40S&W as it was.

Ideally it would start with a fixed sight 681 frame with a 4-inch slab-side under-lugged barrel, round butt, flutted cylinder and chambered for 10mm Auto. That would be one of the finest combat revolvers ever conceived. I would take an adjustable sight L-frame (think 686) but there is something about fixed sights on a moderate sized "combat" revolver that I really like.

Please send me the contact info of your next-of-kin. You won't know if the gun is in the casket.
And I will even plant watermelon on your grave! :D

I have a couple of pre- lock 610s, except for the moon clips, they're a ton of fun to shoot.
