Probably my favorite rifle right now, since I shot a 1/2" (lucky) group with it recently:

My buddy has a Model 70 like yours and we tried sighting it in, but it made horizontal groups over an inch wide, but less than 1/8" high. I took it home and checked the scope/mounts. The rear mount was loose and after tightening, shot 1/8"-1/4" groups at 100 yards. One of the best out-of-the-box hunting rifles I've ever shot and I've shot well over a hundred when running my part-time gun repair business in conjunction with a sporting goods store in Central Maine.

That's beautiful. I need to have the bolt handle redone on my Brazilian Mauser so I don't have to run high rings...
thanks
Try to find someone with the bolt forging fixture, if you were local I could get one to use.

I believe the bolt body on this rifle is new, it's one peace, the handle does not look welded on like some one added it. even all the parts are new with numrich on them.

A trio of 7mm's....an 1895 Chilean Mauser 7x57, a Ruger 77 MK II 7x57, and a Weatherby Vanguard 7mm-08

M11 savage 223 Leopold vx3l 3.5-10 x50 on the bench. I was hitting steel at 300 Meters. Took a small doe at 40 yds.

Rem 700 sps 24" tube, Timney 512 trigger, Nikon 4-12x40, in 7mm08. Got 2 bucks with this one.
