I have never seen a Brent ten in the flesh. but what is up with the slide? why does it look like the safety is a push button under the rear sight? i see "S" on one side and "F" on the other. do they stand for safe and fire?

Mighty fine looking Brens bc!

I have a small collection. I used to shoot some of them before I knew the risks (SOME slides of the full size Models had flaws that made them prone to cracking). *

The Special Forces Slides may have similar issues, but from a different cause. The slides were not hardened correctly and are on the brittle side. They need to be annealed if the gun is going to be a shooter. *

* bc may be aware of this being a collector, but others may not.

The Bren Ten had 2 safeties. The one on the slide is a cross bolt safety operated manually. The other is a 1911 type on the frame that can be switched over to the other side of the frame for left hand use.

As mentioned above, the Bren has a cross bolt safety, as well as a thumb safety.

I watched Ian at FW on the Bren Ten. Such a great pistol design for the time period. I would like to even own an original (non SF) edition one day.

The first attempt to resurrect the Bren 10 as the Peregrine Falcon by Voit (Yes, the basketball company.) had a Walther type decocking lever in place of the cross bolt. I asked the SHOT Show rep very nicely but he would not sell me prototype SN 007.
The Vltor Fortis reincarnation retained the cross bolt. Which I do not see much use for.

That's a real beauty.

How's it run? (I was under the impression they were not very reliable and that's why they never took off)
Thanks

I actually never shot either of my Brens, cause they’re still unfired. I need to find a shooter.

Yes, you owe it to yourself. I got mine a couple of years ago in used but excellent condition so I don’t mind taking it out occasionally. I was apprehensive about how it’d shoot after wanting one for so many years, but I enjoy shooting it even more than I was expecting
