Ruger Security Six

Anyone finds me a 4 inch blue police six for 400 or less I’d buy it now! ( I shouldn’t but would!)
The Speed Six is the same gun as the Police Service Six except for the round butt. You can broaden your search to include Speed Six if you're OK with the round butt. I like the round butt on my short barreled Speed Sixes and my 4" bull barreled Model 10s.

Same here though I traded most of mine in on semi-autos instead. Had a GP100 but didn't care for it as much as I loved the Security Six.

I really liked my GP100. But, it always felt a bit clunky to me. I really prefer the Sp101 size. I had a bit of an epiphany and thought if I am going to carry the weight and clunkiness of a GP100, I'll just get a Redhawk 5 1/2" in it's place.

I think that the Security Six fits very nicely between the SP101 and Redhawk size wise!

Again that reflects my thoughts as well! The Security Six always struck me as being perfectly sized for a .357; much like a S&W Model 19 but a little more durable with it's solid frame design. The GP100 felt awkward in my hand and it just didn't have the same balance and handling that the Security Six had.

Just an FYI to y'all.

Looking at all thses pic's make me remember that I have not had mine out of the house for too long a while.

She NEEDS to get to the range and then she & I can hear the KA--- BOOM of the .357 !!

If Smith can bring back its classics and Colt can bring back the Python, why can't Ruger bring back the Security Six? No one said they have to stick a 1970's price tag on it.

Sigh...

I would be the first one in line to buy one if they did but I highly doubt it. Still it's a happy thought I like to keep buried deep in that part of my brain which clings to old fashioned notions and forlorn hope.

The 357 MC and the lipsey’s 357 five inch are both on my must have list. Basically the same gun but different purposes. I gottz to have me some blues steel and walnut!!! (Model10 too)
5" gp has been on my want list. I have a 6" but chopping that one inch off does something special . won't get rid of the 6" of I get the 5" but it'll see less use- currently it's my most fired gun- it eats everything and asks for more.

Sorry, I meant it might be time for you to own one again, I have a 4" SS SS, and posted a pic of it.

Sorry for the misconception!

I think I'm out of the old Ruger game. I have a lowback blued 2 1/2 SS in outstanding condition that's so nice I'm afraid to shoot it. The factory grips are no good and the replacements I found are so fat they may be wider than the gun is long! Great trigger and lovely fit and finish though.

I came into a 1980s production tapered lug 6" gp100 that was good enough I decided to let go of the old SS. This one seems tighter with a better trigger than either of our late model sp101s or my 3" gp100.

Older appears to be better with both Ruger and S&W.

I have owned a 5.5 inch Redhawk and a 6 inch gp100 at the same time. The Redgawk is significantly bigger and heavier

My question for Ruger is = since the Speed 6 was so popular that you cannot find one in decent condition .except for a HIGH premium price.

Why not produce them again, and they can possibly improve it ----- IF that is possible !

Probably because Ruger figures they've got their .357 Magnum bases pretty well covered with their current line-up and don't need the Six Series in the mix.

And for the most part they certainly do, however i'd love a GP100 with an 8 inch barrel as a standard offering

Me, I'm just the opposite. A 4" barrel is great, a 5" barrel is perfect, a 6" barrel is alright though it's getting a little weighty out there, and an 8" barrel is just too long!

Please correct me if I'm wrong. The GP100 is very similar in size as the S&W L frame. Were the six series is closer to a K frame. The SP 101 is smaller than a K frame but not as small as a J frame. The LCR is close in size to the J frame.

I would love to see Ruger come out with a GP 100 in 41 mag with a 7", 5", & 3" barrels. I would have a hard time deciding what length to buy first:thumbup:

41 mag would be great.
