Yes, you owe it to yourself. I got mine a couple of years ago in used but excellent condition so I don’t mind taking it out occasionally. I was apprehensive about how it’d shoot after wanting one for so many years, but I enjoy shooting it even more than I was expecting
Absolutely

I actually shot one back in the mid 90’s.

I sure wish someone would bring these out. I'd buy a couple.

‘There have been two failed attempts.

Voit tried to bring it out in 1991 as the Peregrine Falcon and a special edition called the Phoenix. They made some prototypes which all but one are in someone’s safe (Richard Voit ?) . There is one missing one that disappeared. I heard it was either a holster maker or pistol case maker that kept it because they never got paid.

Then Vltor made a big to do about them bringing it back as the Fortis with improvements in 2008. They had 4-5 prototypes at one of the shot shows. They even had a blog with updates. There were photos of parts and frames. It looked like things were coming along fine. I forgot the name of the guy, a VP(?) even had his email posted and would answer questions. Guns could be ordered and deposits taken at Bass Pro shops.

Then one day all communications just stopped, the only explanation given was the project was put on hold, that’s it.

I may have drawn First Blood with the smaller Bren 10.

Shot show in Atlanta (1984?) I was handling a chopped model at their booth and the edge of the slide cut the begeebers out of me.

My partner told them they should give me a band-aid and the pistol now that it was used and blooded! Some nice lady at another booth gave me a band-aid. I joked that they should at least give me a magazine....they did not have any....

I have wanted one of these forever. They had one in the shop where I worked durning college and I lusted after it daily! I would be in for a newly made one, but like others have said I would need to be able to buy it out right.

Didn't the company shipped the pistols first without their magazines?

Yes

The magazine manufacturer made a batch that was not hardened properly unknown to Dornaus and Dixon. The mags were released with the guns into the wild and the feed lips got chewed up.

With antsy customers with deposits waiting for their guns, D&D sent guns out without mags to appease them, with promises of the mags following shortly. Some guys never got their mags.

I had my first Bren in 1n 84/85 and the open market price for mags immediately shot to $150-175 and have pretty much maintained that price with some bringing more. There was even someone modifying 1911 mags by placing plastic shims on the side of the mag body and notching a new mag release catch hole. The one I bought did not work in my gun.

Great collectors piece! Just beautiful.

we’ve really come a long way for the bad old days of new gun models. Sure the occasional heir of Dornaus and Dixon comes around, but for the most part this is a golden age of new gun production. And not just $495 plastic striker fired Glock decedents.

It would take someone like Wilson or Nighthawk to do it justice in making it and making it right. An iconic gun like that and they could make them for the next 50 years and never catch up with demand. Just a beautiful piece.

I also think they would sell very well if the price was somewhat reasonable.
