The problem with wearing really expensive knives is that you can lose them.

BTDT! I was carrying my Strider SnG one day and wound up leaving it on my rear bumper (as near as I can tell) at a Costco here in Vegas, never to be seen again. I had done a "good deed" for the guys at Strider before this and when they heard from my sheath maker Lifter that I'd lost my SnG they replaced it. Just sent me one in the mail! But I have never carried it and probably never will. My BM Griptilian is what I carry most often now and is the most expensive knife I carry.

Uuhhh, lying on the couch on a heating pad. Nothing in the pocket, but have a really cheap Chinese knife on the table next to me. It's my letter and package opener.

To most here it's garbage. But it came from my dad who's having a lot of health problems now. So to me it's priceless.

I have a number of cheap beater knives around that I use for opening boxes and mail and such. Some of them are ones I've had for years. Some of them I bought on various road trips years ago.

While they may not be worth a anything, a good beater is nice to keep around so we don't beat up our good knives. And if someone we care about gave it to us, well, you can't measure the value in dollars.
