Just got back from the interview and WOOHOO! Tomorrow morning I will start training and orientation to work part time here:

https://www.mcmillersportscenter.com/

Will start training as a Range Safety Officer and hoping to work Wed. - Friday and fill-in when asked.

I was so excited about this that I completely forgot to ask what the pay was. Not that it will make a lot of difference as it will give me something constructive to do and I know I will enjoy it. Heck I didn't even ask about fringe benefits like range time, gun transfers, discounts, bank mining.

3 days a week I think I can handle that. Also it's been 5 years since I've punched a time clock!

I was made for retirement. I have plenty of interests, including hunting, fishing, shooting, reloading, photography, reading, grandkids (and chores, community activism and various home upkeep projects) to keep me interested and involved 'til I finally run out of runway. Love the freedom; hate the alarm clock. Each to their own.

Congats. My oldest son moved to Delavan last summer after he got married, and we're looking at moving to the Lake Geneva/Williams Bay area possibly this summer, and most likely next summer. Your range has been on my radar as I've looked at ranges in the area. It looks great.

Congrats ! Looked it over from the link, looks like a real pro operation. Amusing about forgetting to ask about pay and bennies, but I'm not about to make wisecracks about senior moments. Nope, not me. Never. I'm too vulnerable in that area.

Congrats! The medical issues that led to my retirement left me practically unemployable, except for piece work - nothing that requires a schedule. I hope you enjoy your return to the workforce as much as you expect to over time.

Thank you all so very much. I was in forced retirement 5 years ago because of sever P.A.D. in both legs. I could no longer climb ladders or push a heavy tool box. Then 3 years ago I has a triple bypass from which I also quit smoking cigarette.

The biggest advantage for me is that there is not a lot of walking and no stairs or ladders. The physical demand shouldn't be too stressful. Besides what more could I ask for than to be doing something I love and getting outdoors at the same time. Also got real tired of being my own company for 9 hours a day while the wife is at work and the dog doesn't say much.

OH and BTW I'm not going back to work because I have to, this is something I want to do.

Nice!
I see some extra range time in your future, probably some new guns too - those range rats can be a bad influence. Enjoy your new job, no doubt I'll come up and with that I'll say - see you on the range!

My oldest son moved to Delavan last summer after he got married,
Delavan has a good range (Delavan sportsmans club) that's my range of choice I make it there usually once a month or so when the weather's nice.

Very cool! I interviewed for a part time job at an indoor range up here years back and it was the most excited for an interview I had too. Ended up being Mr Mom instead, which is fulfilling but a lot more work!

Too bad that's on just about the opposite side of the state or I'd wander down to say hi ;)
