What was the first cartridge/gun you ever fired?

My first attempt was a Savage 24 shooting .410. I was about 7 and dad wasn't a good teacher. :( Next was a Winchester bolt action .22 in summer recreation. The guns were kept in a closet at school. First handgun was a Colt Trooper shooting 38 wadcutters. I was 24 and a rookie cop. Later sold when I left the force.

Dad taught himself how to shoot. At 5 his first was a Winchester 1901 in 10 gauge! :what: At 6 he took out a Colt conversion in .44 Colt to go rabbit hunting. He didn't hit any rabbits. I have the Winchester 1901, the Savage 24, and a Remington 12C that dad grew up with. At about 100 feet he could light a wooden match with that gun, and kept the family fed after his dad died. He was an expert marksman with a rifle and shotgun.

Way back in 1963 when I was 4 with my grandfather holding it and helping me it was a 30 M1 carbine. A ten round mag dump and I was hooked big time. As they say "The rest is history".

.22LR, from some bolt-action rifle which I don't remember what it was. It was way back at Boy Scout camp. All I know was we had a blast that year.

22 rimfire single shot for the rifle

41 rimfire for the first handgun experience.

Both.the same day. And I didn't hit squat apparently that day.
