Obturation provided a great source for .32-20 and other cowboy loads.

Yes, .32-20 is still made. In 2015 I bought a Miroku 1892 Winchester Deluxe takedown rifle in this caliber, and awhile later a Uberti 1873 S. A. A. in .32-20 as well. Buffalo Arms makes loads in blackpowder as well as modern propellant.

I lucked on to and bought (1995 or so) a Savage 23c bolt action rifle in the aforementioned caliber. I reload for it, but the case is so thin, it crumples easily. One must go slow and carefully with great attention to belling the case properly.

I find it a marvelous 'little' caliber. Once considered a minimal deer caliber, I would not use it (casually) for more than coyote or bunnies.

I use the Ultramax stuff. Its a little smokey, but always goes bang-

This combo is fun, but doesnt really seem to offer any advantages over .38spl. I think the cartridge made some sense in lever guns back when it was more difficult to machine accurate headspace, but Im sure the ammunition companies are glad these tapered cartridges are nearly extinct.

I think that the "Cowboy Action Shooting" (is that what it is called?) gives some of these old cartridges renewed relevance.

I have a half dozen vintage Colt and S&W revolvers in .32WCF ... and one 1922-mfr Marlin 27-S Pump rifle.

I have developed a few nice loads for both.

Both revolvers & rifle are a deeeeelight to shoot. Accurate and they produce low levels of noise & recoil so they are good for introducing some of the more trepidatious folks to the wonderful world of centerfire firearms. ;)

EDIT:

Here is a quickpic of the revolvers that I took awhile back:

I have seen several new guns recently chambered for 32-20. Mostly the guns marketed specifically for cowboy games, but there are other makers who offer it in things like contender barrels and whatnot.

Starline 32-20 cases are a little thicker and don’t crumple as much as some others. It’s a fun cartridge to load for and shoot. I have a contender pistol barrel that is very accurate. There are a LOT of component choices.

Truth.

Starline is all that I use after giving up on re-loading old crumple-prone (crumply? :)), thin, fragile, factory ammo cases.

For anyone deciding to start reloading for .32-20, just be sure to lube the cases. It is a bottleneck cartridge, after all, and the dies are only steel with no carbide ring. ;)

Important to keep in mind of I even decide to take reloading again.

I love my Harford7.5" and I too pair it with a Marlin 27. However use an old worn Winchester 92
32-20 in Sass shoots as the Marlin 27 is a no go there :(
