I've noticed that the various online order sites are advertising ammo in stock recently. Some are even free shipping.
Not many store choices near where I am but how's the local,in store, situation where you folks are?
o_O

Academy web site shows sparse availability once the filter for "Available in store today" is applied. No idea what's (still?) on the shelves at Bass Pro here, and I honestly don't care re: Bass Pro personally, with what that place has become. Online is OK with me, Midway USA has resumed posting "Free shipping with orders over $49" codes sporadically. I used one of those codes recently to snag two difficult to find boxes of Norma 7mm-08 loaded with 156 grain Oryx bullets earlier this month. It showed up on my doorstep a few days later, shipped by Midway the day following when I placed that order.

Not that long ago, maybe 3 weeks ago midwayusa had no .357", 9mm, .451'' or .224'' projectiles for reloading.
The few that they had were really cheap, like cast or swaged lead or unusual like 80gr and bigger 224 bullets.

Please post links for those of us not so fortunate.

I scour the web a couple times a week with no reasonable deals for target 9mm.
I saw on another forum tonight that Bass Pro Shops has 9mm at a good price with free shipping. I haven't looked since I won't shop there. Already had 2 different gun "specials" emailed to me that really were too good to be true. Took my credit card and kept getting delayed emails for 30-45 days then they cancelled. Not sure why they do this but from what I understand it is a regular thing with them. Maybe they are just trying to get you on their website to buy something at regular price which is about 25% higher than everyone else for reloading components.

I believe it was Ammunition Depot. Federal 9mm that I used to be is definitely in stock, but what I used to buy for $24 is now $40.

Sportsmans Warehouse in Columbia SC had a good selection of 9mm, 223 and 556 earlier this week and only about $1 over pre-virus prices from what the clerk told me. I don't really know because I load everything I shoot except rimfire. There is a lot of ammo posted on Armslist locally at gouging prices which I hope the sellers get stuck with. Still seeing some private parties offering 9mm at $400 per K. I hope they paid over market value hoping to profit during the shortage and get hung with a bunch of it.

Good friend of mine is a store manager for a large sporting goods franchise. We were texting each other a couple of days ago and He says things are starting to slow down. Powder. Primers and 5.56 and .22 is still moving fast but it’s staying on the shelf longer before it’s gone and the next shipment arrives. I don’t see it getting much better with the election coming.

Starting about a week ago, JGSales' typical price for a case (1,000 rds.) of various brands of Russian 7.62x39 went from about $300 to approx. $270 (?) a case.
The difference in price was noticeable.

My hypothesis is that people are tired of paying for both the new Retail Tax on internet purchases, along with the shipping charge, or don't want to buy 1,000 rds. in a single purchase.

As in the past, once the Ammo Flippers begin to get nervous about the Sheep Anxiety Bubble Index (SHABI) remaining pressurized, the downward price movements tend to accelerate a little bit.

In either spring of '09 or possibly many weeks after after Newtown, a single seller in Keene NH posted about 50,000 rds. or more, in separate ads of bulk 7.62x39 on Gunbroker.
That reminded me of the two panicked futures sellers who had 'cornered the market' in "Trading Places" (Murphy, Akroyd starred) when they learned that news about the orange crop wasn't what they had read: "Sell, Sell, Sell!". Schadenfreude will be Freude.

I think imported ammo and components, especially any requiring sea passage (PPU for example including Academy's Monarch store brand) will remain in tight availability here in the US for longer than domestic manufactured stuff will. Unless we can't keep enough recycled lead handy until ships loaded with more lead are back on their routes.

Well hopefully ammo such as 223 will be back to normal quantities in advertisements. No more ''800 round case'' ads, where historically a case is 1000 rds. And the corresponding price drop;).
Much like friends say ''we're taking the truck see you there,'' I get there looking for their TRUCK and they are in their SUV. Trucks sell better, so, dealers started calling SUVs trucks I guess.

I am seeing the first signs of online prices coming down, as of a 2 days ago. I bought Tula (Yeah, dirty but good for pistol training), for 16.5 CPR, shipping included, no tax. Pre-ammo scare it was about 13 CPR. I've seen .223 dropping as well, but not as fast. Buy in about 2-3 months, well enough before the election.

What I’m seeing online is stock is coming back but prices remain high.

$50-60 higher than previously priced steel case stuff per 1,000, and $75-80 higher on brass cased range ammo.
This was to be expected. Too bad the hoarders and people who keep one box until they think they need more don't learn.

I live in Southern California. I stopped by LAX Ammo yesterday to pick up some 9mm.
https://www.laxammo.com/

They had plenty of FMJ ammo in stock but the Defensive ammo was at about half of what they normally carry in selections and quantities.

LAX Ammo has some pretty good sales on occasion and their prices on bulk ammo are fair but it is obvious prices are still higher on all the ammo there.

If I remember right LAX ammo is reloaded and they are using Dillons to make it. I can do that myself. I checked out their factory on line.

Also, online big boys have 9MM, 556, and 223 that I normally would not consider buying. Both ammo and bullets. I do not see their regularly used stuff.

I did something right this time. I bought ahead of this mess. Got lucky.

My local sportsmans had a great selection for hunting rifle calibers, but was thrashed for handgun calibers. They had American eagle 556 and 223 fmj though, and of course 224 valkyrie, 6.5 creed and all the other msr calibers that wasnt 223/556.

Local cabelas was obliterated for every caliber that wasnt 338 lapua and shotshells haha.

(Phoenix az for those interested)

I was at three gun shops today looking for some 9mm and 45acp range ammo. Found no 45 except a few 25 round boxes of defense ammo. At Rural King their pistol ammo selection was almost nonexistent and their handgun display looked like they were going out of business. I've never seen that shop so low on ammo and handguns. The biggest store, which is a huge place at 53,000 sq ft, had 115gr and 124gr 9mm FMJ in bulk, 399.99 for 1,000 rounds but very little in 50 round boxes and those were limited to one box per customer. I might go back tomorrow and buy a 1,000 of the 124 gr 9mm, seems like a good price. One of the employees at the big store said that they weren't receiving new guns right now, he hoped the situation will change pretty soon. The smallest shop had quite a lot of CCI Mini Mags so I bought a few 100 round boxes. They seem to be the only shop that has a consistent stock of CCI ammo. I'm going to Ocala, FL tomorrow and will check Gander Outdoors to see if they have any 45acp.

I see your in Florida, if your closer to the Tampa Bay area check out Sunshine State Armory in Zephryhills. They were well stocked in everything and last visit they had Speer Lawman FMJ 9mm 500rds for $130 and cases of 5.56. The Rural King just down the road when I was there last week had 50 and 100rd boxes of .45acp

I ordered a lower parts kit from PSA. Added in 1,000 rounds of PMC 556 62gr. I've had excellent results with my 16" 1 and 7 twist LMT.

Edit: .42 cents per round I believe.
