It's my wife's fault really. I saw this one at the LGS the other day, and was going to pass on it, but Nooooooooo....she had to come along and twist my arm and make me put this on layaway.

1966 Colt Trooper, 38 Special. I knew Colt made the Trooper in 38, but I don't think I've ever seen one, live and in living color.

It's got the box, some of the papers, and I honestly don't think it's been fired since 12/27/1966. That's the date on a factory test target in the box. Five rounds of 38 wadcutter in a group that I could cover with my thumb from I think it said 30 feet.

Anyway...that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Oh my you poor thing, having your wife make you buy that beautiful, pristine Colt Trooper, in .38 Special no less! With all of the gun shows and private collectors gun shows I have been to, I have never seen that gun, in that condition, in that caliber (though I must say I have come across Colt Pythons in .38 Special)!

Congrats on the amazing find and for having such a forceful and decisive wife!

I hope your arm gets better from all that twisting so you can take your newfound treasure to the range!

That is a very nice Colt. Congrats!

Just wondering, does your wife write any “marriage self help” books or have a blog or website dedicated to “how today’s women should treat their husbands” by chance now, would she?
Does she need capital to start one? :D

Around her the .357 Magnum is more desirable, but I've always liked the .38 Special Trooper More for some reason. I let one go a year or so ago that I really regret now. It was the most accurate 4" gun I've ever owned and that is a lot of revolvers over the last 40+ years. In the right hands, it would shoot HBWC in one ragged hole at 25 yards all day long. One of my buddies beat me out of it but at least I get to shoot it once in a while.

When I was a kid there was a bugs bunny cartoon where bugs would do involuntary flip-flops when he got near a gold nugget.

I think that's what happens to @CajunBass when he gets near a classic handgun for sale!

Congrats!
Again!

It's not when I get close. It's the shop who knows when I'm coming. I'm convinced they have a spy somewhere along the way who watches for my car and calls and tells them..."That sucker is on the way again. Put out something no one else wants." ;)
