I went with the next best option for the lower.

If an Aero lower is “the best thing,” then I don’t think “the next best thing” is the Juggernaut. It might be the other option your shop sells, but the world of AR’s is wide.

Billets aren’t always compatible with all uppers, so I don’t know that it’s a sure thing to assume an Aero forged upper would fit any brand billet lower without any interference or misalignment of lines.

Fwiw, I had bought an SAA complete lower and put a PSA upper on it. No problems, runs great. I see that SAA actually had some complete lowers for $159.99 . Welcome to the forum Kellogg !

My FFL buddy has used Juggernaut parts, maybe a complete build kit, ill have to ask.

If your going with the Juggernaut lower, id probably go with the juggernaut upper. Either complete or a stripped upper and add parts. From looking at the sight, its got some mill lines that wont line up with your normal/other upper receivers. The slab sided BCA side charger might look ok, but i think most others would look "off"

Personally my builds usually start cheap, and end cheap, so i cant say for most of the higher end parts except when helping folks with their builds. IVE never seen a functional issue with using parts from different companies, but some of the more unique lower/uppers can look weird when used with parts that werent ment to go to them.

That is what I've been hearing. I did my best trying to look online to see the lines but maybe my store has one in stock and I can see it in person. The lines really aren't that big of a deal for me. I really just want a good AR. One light weight and preferably one for more Tactical use than longer range.

One thing I will have to look at is the muzzle break or flash hider on the Aero because CA requires it to be 16 at least.

That's a federal law, most that are shorter have a muzzle device permanently attached to reach legal minimum length requirements . in those cases the flash holder can't be replaced with something you may prefer.

I go with a longer barrel and short muzzle device. If I have to be sixteen inches, I may as well use them in barrel.

Like Skylerbone, I like Aero just fine. They make quality things.
I think you have a decent plan for a first AR. When it comes down to it, they are all just aluminum and steel. They are all supposed to fit together, some may not, even high tier brand stuff, though this is rare and gets rarer yet with quality and also keeping with like manufacturers parts, even if assembling yourself.

I think you do fine.:)

OP, I got into ARs only in the last 10 years, so I remember early questions I had well. My advice is don't fret too much what you get for an upper now. Just stay relatively simple and affordable, from a known supplier with good customer service. Aero if you build, PSA if you buy complete. (I have both) Sure, you could spend more, but don't, yet.

My reasoning is, if this is your 1st you don't know what you like yet, after a while you will discern your preferences and the second upper will be different. And there WILL be a second. They're like tribbles.

Now, if you have shot a number of other people's rifles and really liked one setup, that's a horse of a different color.
