Got these in a trade. There’s no way these primers got in there for a average reloader, am I right to assume that it is a pulled round from the military?

DEN 42: Denver Ordinance Plant, 1942 production.

I would decap with care. You can completely crush a live primer without setting it off if you avoid smacking it too hard. Ease the primer out, and carry on.

Per here, it is corrosive, but you don't care if you don't fire it.

Yeah no danger in depriming them if you go slowly. Many years ago I popped a bunch of 06 primers and then cleaned the rifle well cause I did not know any better. Years later a more experienced reloader showed me I could decap them safely. The best part is you know it's new brass even though it is well aged.;)

Go gently to decap, warn other people living in the house, wear safety glasses and hearing protection. If one does go off, the biggest problem is calming yourself and potential others. One primer is not going to blow the roof or foundations loose.

Nothing wrong with that primed shell, reload it as is, and shoot it.... If it's corrosive, just clean with soap and water.... I've shot tons of surplus corrosive ammo, and I'm still here.
