Dan Wesson 1911 A2 Parkerized Update/Discontinued

According to the Dan Wesson website they discontinued this model last year.

Their website still offers the bead blasted matte blue finish A2 model. I believe the A2 to be a really great 1911 option at it's price point. It's a well made CNC carbon steel frame/slide pistol along with hand fitting, crowned match stainless barrel and no MIM parts.

Dan Wesson's A2 was an interesting take on updating an iconic service pistol and made for a rather no-nonsense, somewhat improved version of the M1911 A1. Too bad it was only produced in limited numbers. It would have gone great with my Springfield Armory M1911 A1 and my Colt Government.

Those are two very nice looking 1911's ! I've always had an aesthetic preference for the traditional vertical serrations on a government model.

I spoke with the Dan Wesson service department and the representative had no available data regarding total number of parkerized A2 pistols manufactured.

Excellent choice. I love my A2 Commander! This one is considered Matte Blue instead of parked, however.

An outstanding Commander, semi custom fit & finish and then some, carbon steel (no gulling slide/frame here), novak sights, intermediate trigger, high grade parts, blended hand fitting without the fancy bells & whistles. I'd say it's a working pistol and a family heirloom.
