Today I enjoyed the outdoors. I chose to carry......

Well my outing was a bit different. It was to a LGS to pick up my latest.

It was like this; I wasn’t sitting on the fence to buy this new Wilson EDC X 9, I was just reaching for post to climb up. But JR24’s thread last week about his Wilson EDC
just pushed me up and over the fence!

I’m not crazy enough to go the range on a weekend here in Redneck land where lockdown is a total joke. But I hope to shoot it during the week at least before the credit
card bill arrives. That way it may not sting so hard.

Be careful, those things eat ammo at an alarming pace. Went to the range yesterday planning on just shooting a few mags worth of my new 18 round mags to function test them.

Ended up burning through all 400 rounds I had in my bag and my carry ammo spare mag to boot.

Had to drive home with only one mag of carry ammo and no backup, not ideal for the whole 10 miles of rural road between me and the range :)

Could be worse, gone home with an empty CCW and no ammo before, or half a mag of FMJ that I managed to scrounge up in the bottom of my range bag.

Gonna need to spend some time on the reloading bench this weekend again.

Haha, I’ve plenty if those range trips before.

Did the 18 rounders perform ok?

I have 2 of them in transit right now.

Perfect, as expected with the Wilson. Eats everything without a hiccup. I had a few failures to return to battery in the first 100 rounds, but the slide was tight and I didn't lube it up properly. After that it's gone through the next 1500 or so without even a hint of a hiccup. One fail to fire from dead primer, but that's Winchesters small pistol primers fault, good solid dimple, no bang.

I really like the design of the 18 rounder base plate, it really fits nicely and smoothly. You can tell they put a lot of thought into it. By far the smoothest and best fitting extended baseplate I've encountered.

And not that much taller, using one as my spare mag and will use one for my main mag in the gun once we get into long sleeve weather in the fall/winter.

Great news. Thanks for the report! I look forward to testing everything out.

Apologies to 460 Shooter for thread hijack.

So where is that "10 miles of rural road"? Medellin, Columbia?

I’ve had this in my pocket all day in the yard. Mowing the lawn, cutting some blowdown, hacking a path down to the creek(pronounced “crick”:)) for the kids to play and make a dam.

I even used it once to dispatch a beaver a dog had gotten a hold of.:(

The last two times I went out to the hay marsh I brought a Rascal .22 with me.

Paradise doesn’t need much.

Beautiful pictures. Touched by your best friend, just had to put my girl down last month, 13 years sure flew by fast.

Sorry for your loss. I truly understand.

Sadly, Rowdy is nearly 14 and has degenerated badly the past few months due to arthritis and hips. I'm treasuring every day I still have with him and he may not make it to see my daughter move back to the states in July. He was her dog and I adopted him when her husband got orders to Japan four years ago.

I love dogs, but don't want another as watching him go downhill, knowing I will have to take him in and put down has been heartbreaking.

Appreciate it, it was a tough time, but it was the right time for her. She still had some quality of life but it was fading really fast, if I had waited another week it would have been bad I'm sure.

I got her in a bad time in my life, post college, and for her first few years it felt like she was all that kept me going, so I'll never forget her. I've had a number of dogs, and will probably always have at least two but she was really special for me.

Also, amusingly, my wife was the first woman I brought around that my dog didn't immediately dislike, even if we didnt date for another year or so. She knew, she was a very good dog.

Walked this today. Idaho desert foothills. The wife and I do this three times a week to stay in shape. A couple of miles of up and down steep hills and cow trails. The Sigg 365 is in my pocket 365 days a year even at home as is the bench made which almost needs a new blade because of sharpening Hundreds of times. I have carried that knife for 25 years. I have a new one that I cut up elk with. Sometimes I carry heavier than the 9 mm when I need to weigh myself down.

I built a nursing home there a while back. Nice town. Did you take the buses back-and-forth to the site? I drive past some of the site on my way through Arco to Mont..

.....sorry to hear that. My girl turns 9 in July and I am not looking forward to the day she's gone. Maybe it's because they give us so much, that their lives are so short.

Hey, sometimes the cows come to the fence line and give me the eyeball.

....yeah, I hate them living dead Holsteins. Sometimes it hard to determine if they are really Zombie cows or just heifers with pinkeye. Still, you just gotta put 'em down and let the good Lord sort 'em out!

For some unknown reason I like the SP101 with a blued finish a lot more than it being made out of stainless steel!
Most of my wheel guns are SS because it's easy to care for and I don't need to worry about the gun rusting in the local humid summers. When it comes down to looks, though, revolvers always look better in blue! ;)
