B-Sharp, thank you for sharing this information. I have always appreciated THR for its members giving out wonderful info. A couple years ago I found a Youtube video by a guy who makes tapered cartridges for revolvers.
Thanks again. THR rocks.

Thanks for the posting! Im a fan of paper cartridges but tapered cartridges i have found hinder performance. Ive found that straight walled cartridges fire with out leaving any trapped air or pockets of powder stuck between bunched up paper....you want the powder to burn evenly and at the same time, just one swift burn. I found that this method gets better consistency and less deviation and of course better accuracy since the packing pressure placed on all cartridges are the same. I even placed a .36 cal. tapered paper cartridge into a clear plastic 3/8 inch tube and shoved it down to see what the cartridge would look like
inside a cylinder chamber....i was shocked to see how the paper at the tapered end just crumbled up and hid air pockets and sandwiched powder between paper...even tho it all burns up i found that the crumbled up paper was usually left behind because it didnt get an even burn. All this led to me to question how to get everything to burn evenly and at the same time...and i figured the best way to not have crumbled up cartridge paper is to not have a taper and to go straight walled. Solved a whole lot of issues for me. Although i feel all paper cartridges, tapered or straight, are great ways to load the gun and really can be a work of art. Ill post a link of what im trying to explain.

Btw...HUGE fan of bruces cap remover! That tool is simple yet is one well thought out piece of equipment! I made a crude tool...but yours is very elegant. Truely looks like a tool that should have been made and used with cap guns as it would have prevented a lot of headache.

TheOutlawKid, Glad you like the cap remover. Does the cap fire thru your Cartridge? Very Elegant looking!

Cause with mine you tear and pour the powder down the tube, then seat the cartridge like a patched ball.

Super fast reloads and the shoot straight!

Oh yes the caps fire through the thin rice paper and all the paper from the cartridge is consumed. I have had a few people in the forum try out my same method and have had nothing but positive results. One thing i like is the even compression of the powder.

I like tapered paper cartridges in a revolver because when rammed home, the paper ruptures and ensures there is exposed powder for easy, robust ignition and full consumption of the paper. I use a relatively small taper.
