I have never owned or fired a .45 Shield, but a 3.3" .45 XDs has been a part of my carry rotation since I got it in Aug'13.

Comfortable to both carry & shoot, accurate & reliable.

I like it so much that last summer when Cabelas first had the Mod2 3.3" .45 XDs on-sale for ~$350 :what:, I bought one ...

... and the mags are compat. :)
 
I prefer the KAHR, but my next choice would be the XDs. But I honestly don’t think you’ll be disappointed with either, if you’re really unsure flip a coin.
 
Thanks everyone. I went with the Shield 45. It has one extra round , thin , no extra parts like a LCI and no grip safety . I still like them both. But for now , I'm going to enjoy the Shield 45. I may sand down the grip texture. The new 2.0 is abrasive against the hip skin.
