I wish S&W would make a basic 3 inch barrel aluminum frame, fixed sight K-Frame 38SPL+P revolver. I believe such a "Pro-Model" revolver with a flush to the frame spurless DAO hammer would appeal to a lot of revolver lovers - without breaking the bank.

I suspect the empty weight would come in just under 20 ounces and in the neighborhood of 22 ounces loaded. The 3 inch tube should get the +P velocity levels up to consistent "expansion" levels with modest recoil.

Light weight, low drag, rounded concealment shape, what's not to like?

I have a model 60 Pro. .357 Magnum, 3” barrel, 23 Oz weight, but it’s a J frame so it’s a 5 shot.

I really like your idea, RMc.
That extra inch in the barrel pays good dividends.

There was the S&W 337. 3" barrel, Scandium frame, Titanium cylinder, adjustable rear sight, exposed rear hammer, 38 special.

They're pretty rare and hard to find, but would make a very nice carry gun.

I suspect that many who view the S&W 642 as their "always gun", would also find a double action only "airweight" 3" K-frame with a flush fit hammer to be an excellent, dare I say comfortable, companion piece.

I believe there are many who would also appreciate just how easy such a light, snag free, belt revolver is to live with.

And indeed, there are many shooters who find the smooth roll and quick return of a Smith & Wesson double action revolver trigger easier to hit with under stress.

That gun weighs 10 1/2-11 oz. Shooting a box or two of +P's through a regular steel model 36 takes its toll on your hand, and that's almost twice the weight at 19 1/2 oz.

I think I'd rather carry it than shoot it. lol

I am aware of the old Mdl 12, and the high end revolvers made of ultra-light "unobtainiam." The former quite fragile by todays standards and the latter limited-production and high dollar.

That said, I believe S&W is missing a link in the CCW revolver market for a modern...

So.... a 3" K-frame Centennial ? I'd personally love a 3" Mdl 13 round butt with out the lock.

While S&W dithers, Taurus has come out with a 3" version of their 856, which is basically a Colt D-frame size revolver. On their web site they offer a alloy framed, spurless hammered version.

I'm not a Taurus fan but they're introducing what you want while S&W continues to dis-continue many of their well thought out designs. Go figure!

I was thinking about the 856UL Defender also ..
Seems like everyone is happy with the 2 inch barrel versions so far ...
It will be hard for me to pass up the 856ul Defender
even though I own a Charter Police bulldog 6 shot 38 spl with a 2.25 inch barrel .. its all steel (sans the aluminum grip frame )
Weighs in at 20oz

I picked up this old Charter Target Bulldog 357mag a year or so ago , 4 inch barrel , 21oz 5 shot ,, low weight due to aluminum shroud over the barrel
They also made this model 6 shot 38spl

I have a gun on order from Charter Arms. They are making me a non-catalog gun to my requested specifications.

3" 6 shot .38 with adjustable sights on their Bulldog frame. It will be stamped Police Undercover like Buckeye's gun. It is still about a month out from being finished last I checked.

The Bulldog frame is the same size as a SP101 or Diamondback/Det Special. It should prove to be a handy size with 6 shots and adjustable sights.

If they like what they see, perhaps they will make it a cataloged item?

I use SP101 holsters for my Bulldog frames

Picked up two Charter Arms revolvers today !!!

RMc---Why a spurless and not an enclosed hammer ?

Simple: A flush to the frame "Pro" version would retain the lines of the K-Frame and allow marketing of a DA/SA version for those who prefer such.
