Back when the Glock 43X and48 came out, I wanted to get one. I already had a Glock 43, but I’ve never been a big fan of small guns, the grips just don’t feel good in my hand. I liked the fact that the grip on the 43X and 48 were bigger, but I wasn’t crazy about the silver slide.
I’m also not a fan of low capacity carry guns. So when Shield Arms came out with 15 round Mags for the 43X and 48, I decided I would get one.
I picked up a G48 with the black slide and ordered two of the Shield Arms magazines. I decided to get an aluminum mag release, which is recommend for use with the mags.

I got to thinking that since this will be my EDC when I retire in August, why not dress it up a bit. I ordered a red extended mag release and backplate from HYVE Technologies.

The gun shoots great, but I’m going to upgrade the action with a new trigger. I just have to find one in red.
I’m also going to get some night sights.:)

Nice Gunny. I jumped on the Glock 48/SA15 combo a little while back myself. I felt a little trigger work was in order as well. I went with the Overwatch Precision PolyDat trigger. I like it more than the aluminum triggers I checked out. The PolyDat is also relatively inexpensive. Another thing that I found to be helpful was a trigger stop. I'm running all stock springs.

Like the little additions you've added to your Glock 48 Gunny! They do a nice job of personalizing your new gun!

I checked out that trigger this morning. They look to be pretty good, but they don’t make them in red.:(
Might get one for my 19X.

If they would only chamber it in .40...

:D

Nice snag, Top.

Asking for a friend. If you shoot lefty does the back plate have the opposite EGA?
Bought a Kahr .380 once and with my XXL hand it was kind of weird. When your shrink says "get a grip" I'm guessing he mean 1911. Enjoy retirement Gunny. You will have time to really find out what you have in all those boxes.

Gunny,

After seeing your backplate, I want to get one for my G44 along with some magazine floor plates. Hyve actually has them listed for the G44.

Red highlights are sweet! That reminds me,...... my taxes are not filed yet. I have to go to H&R Glock soon :).
Nice pictures too!

This is one of the single stack glocks? and the 15 rd mag is all steel rather than polymer so it can be double stack?

I recently was comparing magazines and noticed my CZ .40S&W mag (all steel) is way thinner than my glock 20 mag (polymer/steel). although I am not sure if that should be my reference as I also figured out CZ 9mm mags and .40 mags are dimensionally identical.

Hey Gunny,

For your coming sight upgrade, do take a look at the Ameriglo Agent sights. The setup is a big orange dot in daylight and subtle night sights in the dark. They are standard FBI issue these days. I have them on two Glocks and a Sig P229.

Good for you!
Nice personalized weapon.

Me, I changed my EDC from a CZ 75 compact or Officers 1911 to their full size big brothers.

Nice pistol OP.
In this thread someone chooses to carry something decent (something bigger than a little pocket gun).

.
Yes. The Glock 48 is a single stack 10 shot. The Shield Arms mag brings it to a 15 round.

I put a set of Night Fision on my Glock 45 recently. I really like then. They are very close to the Ameriglo.

The Police Supply store where I picked up the gun offered to instal night sights for $80. I might have them put them on for me instead of ordering them.

I went through the same set of steps as you did. I took one more when I put my 43 slide on the 48 frame, and the mocked up 43x became my new carry gun. I find it lighter and more pointable than the 48, with a negligible recoil difference.

The beauty though is that by owning both a 43 and a 48 you can mock up the 43x or 43L to try them out for range fun or as carry guns.

I have a G43 that I’ve carried off duty for the last few years. So you know why I bought the G48 instead of the G43X. Like you, I now have four guns instead of two. :)

I just placed an order for the red Apex trigger.

Nice pickup Gunny! Should serve you well.

I picked up a 48 at the shop when they first came out and it really felt nice in the hand, had I known the shield mags would work out I might have picked one up.
