I have a DMPS Panther with a red dot scope.
stupid me, i chose the version without the sight in the front.

so i need both front and rear sights.
Any recommendations for a cheap set?

Thx

PSA sometimes does a sale for the magpul's for 49.99 shipped. They are great. The ones on amazon can be iffy, but i have good results with the ones i ordered in the past.

I would recommend using metal sights, at least for the front, as you will apparently be mounting the front sight onto the gas block, which will be one of the hottest parts of the rifle during firing.

Bad, i thought the same thing. But i had a optic break on my 300. And thru those mag puls on. As long as you dont do a couple mag dumps back to back. They seem to be find.

If you're looking for same plane sights, now don't laugh, UTG flip ups or spring loaded. They are really not bad and pretty inexpensive. The UTG stuff I've seen lately is not the same as the UTG of years ago. You could get a UTG for the front and a Magpul for the rear.

Magpul MBUS are pretty much the standard and aren't THAT expensive.

@TonyAngel mentioned UTG, and I will say despite their hit and miss reputation, their flip up sights are actually pretty decent from what I've seen. My best friend bought them when he got his AR and they've served him well. I wouldn't go into battle with them, but for most uses they'll do what you need them to. Just make sure you get the ones designed for actual firearms, not the airsoft versions.

Do NOT order magpul BUIS from Ebay and likely not from Amazon either. Buy from a reputable vendor with a good return policy. I've been burned on counterfeits twice. They are garbage and break upon installation.

Real Magpul stuff is good to go.

There are also fake Matech rear sights out there as well.

Looked into this once for a friend who wanted some iron sights on his DPMS Oracle. @LoonWulf and @cdb1 are right, they don't take standard front sights. Look for gas block height sights instead. That friend ended up going with a low-power scope on his gun, and I think a scope or a cheap red dot is probably a better answer for these rifles anyway; they're kind of set up for that.

As far as UTG sights, I have this UTG fixed rear sight on one of my ARs, and am pretty happy with it. It's set up like the A2 carry handles: elevation adjustable, windage adjustable, and with two different sized peeps. It started coming loose off my rail when I first started shooting with it, but some blue Loctite fixed that and it hasn't given me a problem since. Would buy it again.

Also, I looked up Magpul gas-block sights just for kicks just because I've never seen one, and I found out there's a reason for that. Straight from the horse's mouth on their product website. You need a metal sight if you're going to go that direction.

*NOTE: Cannot be mounted to a railed gas block due to excess heat issues. Front MBUS must be mounted to a railed fore end on the same plane as the receiver rail. Because of this the sight is also not compatible with MOE Hand Guards.

Ive bought some of the knock offs, knowing they were knock offs, and the metal ones were ok.
Plastic ones are kinda squishy tho.

It dosent bother me the knock offs exist, but it bug the hell out of me when sellers try pass of fakes for the real versions.

I bought some UTG and if you can them, Promag, yea i know, made some really good flip ups. Theres one company I'm having a hard time remembering, but its basically chinese knockoff stuff, and lots of reviews mention crooked towers, and they're not lying. I bought one, it was off by about 10 degrees, and barely zero'd. Read the reviews, and avoid. Interestingly, the metal they used is a good quality, I could not bend it back straight, putting about 300 LB on it. It seems it really was 7075. It flexed, and sprung back. I like the UTG stuff, I would pay more for US made, but I'm just not paying 170$ for US made in this case. Optics planet is worth looking at, and a little less likely to sell knockoffs than Amazon. Yes, there are low quality knockoffs of lowish quality knockoffs of good sights on Amazon. Avoid the plastic Magpuls if you mounting on the gas block, apparently they melt, and thats coming from Magpul, not me.

Cheap or inexpensive or good sights on sale?
Don't ever go cheap.
Just suck it up and buy quality.
ALWAYS.

Are you using it with an fsb? I have a new to me rifle with a flat top, fsb, and a cheesy plastic mbus knockoff. I keep getting this and the Daniel defense rear sight in my search and a bunch of sketchy Amazon fodder. I'm leaning towards the Daniel defense but other than the utg name this one has caught my attention.

If you wind up needing to raise the front sight to work on your DPMS, Yankee Hill makes a riser to accomplish this, if you can't find a set that suits you.

I have to agree about buying MagPul BUIS from reputable sellers. I got burnt once with a set of counterfeit sights. As far as metal non folding rear sights, I have actually had good luck with ones from UTG. I have one on my 16" carbine with fixed front sight base. My zero is real close to mechanical zero (centered).

For non folding sights on the inexpensive side, I would probably go with UTG. Stay Away from the Ebay junk and NcStar.
For folding sights on the inexpensive side, MagPul BUIS. Buy from an actual MagPul reseller to avoid counterfeits.

Everyone is correct about DPMS needing gas block height front sights.

I would not use any polymer or plastic sight on a gas block rail due to heat. I don't even like putting my MagPul sights on a rail sitting directly above the gas block for this reason.

I've got it on a Delton Sport that has a FSB.

If you have the money for the DD sight, I'd say go for it, but I was personally kind of meh about putting a $70 sight on a $450 rifle. I kept my rifle pretty cheap and plain-Jane with a UTG sight and a sling I had floating around in the bottom of my safe.

It's been a fun setup so far. Accurate and very lightweight.

I have a couple of UTG rear sights just like that and they have held up just fine. No I'm not taking them into combat either. But they have done well bouncing around the back of my Jeep and have held zero just fine. I am using both with a fixed front sight base.
