Looking for some people who have set up a camera as a powder check. I’m think I’d rather go that route than a check-die. I’d like to hear what you guys used and what what you would have done differently if at all.

I have to ask why you would want a camera. A camera will not notify you if the case is empty and you aren't watching the camera. A powder check die will notify you.

Do a forum search for "camera" posted by member GW Staar. Put his name in the "posted by" slot and you'll get 2 pages of his posts about his camera setup.

I need to clear up three stations in my Dillon. I really never liked seater/crimp dies to begin with, but was kinda forced to get one since I got a Mr.Bulletfeeder. Long story short, I still don't really care for them and the results I'm getting, so something has got to go. So station #3 will be bulletfeeder, station #4 will be seater, station #5 will be crimp.

Yes, I have twice and enjoy the fruits....no squibs....little stress.........but, my last one used a station because I converted an old .45 acp sizer die by removing the deprimer/expander and replacing it with a cheap Chinese bore scope. I could afford that having two extra stations on my new Pro Chucker 7. There is a thread here on that one, but it won't help you with a 5 station press when you're wanting to spread out the other functions.

The first one I made for the 5 station Pro 2000 press and I WAS looking to save a station.....and I used to have a step by step how-to here that the creeps at Photobucket destroyed for me when they scuttled all their customers on their "free" service, one sweet weekend. And to amplify that problem, China's fickle electronic manufacturers make a product and then it disappears. Everything I used is no longer sold. However.....they are producing new stuff that can work.

Last night I wandered around the net looking for you:

5" Video Monitor similar to mine for $17.50 (needs a 12 volt Power supply...you probably have such a wall wart.)

I found a camera too, and one with separate power video leads (hard to find now)....5 volts though, so that means 2 power supplys.
Plugs straight into the video monitor:

It's up to you to find a spot to glue the camera with 3 minute epoxy, to the underside of your frame....or better if you are using a Dillon 650/750, mount the camera to the bottom of a plug (wood, plastic whatever) at a slight angle to your powder station and run the wire through it out the top of your center hole in the tool heads. That way it's at least transferable to all your tool heads, if not permanently set to the frame. At least you have the option....my Pro 2000 tool head had no center hole. Hint: Tame your wires with stick-on velco.

This is what my Pro 2000 looks like with that sweet big screen in my face....can't not look! ;) (on the old wood pole mount before I got my second progressive and found a welder.)

Videos.....first is of the Pro 2000 and it shows how I pivot the screen between my two progressives. Used a pole, a door hinge and mounted the screen to a piece of Alder wood. The second video shows how I switch lights and camera depending on which press I'm using.

I think once you see the second one, you'll see why I liked the idea of having 2 more stations and a bore scope on one of them.....the bore scope cost me $20. Who cares if it's Chinese....American would cost me $150 for the cheapest one.

The following link is to the bore scope version....try to miss seeing that one on every stroke. ;) https://www.thehighroad.org/index.p...on-for-my-pro-chucker-7.840175/#post-10901064

Only 2 problems.....1--watch your primer and powder levels....at least Dillon has annoying piezo buzzers. And 2 the boat from China is slower than molasses....be patient. In this 3 day shipping world, 2 weeks seems like next year....but it's worth it!

I like this one even better....but would have to be glue mounted on the the outside press casting edge...but you could get it closer and get the best picture. BUT you'd have to find a conversion patch cord to go from USB to the other. I don't doubt somebody sells one.

On the other hand.....you could use your phone or Ipad.....I prefer the big 5" screen...the point....you don't want to miss seeing one....and then there's the big thing...sharing a device that isn't ready to go.

Lube, decap, and resize body, neck, and expand before you clean the cases or clean them a second time. Instead of a camera or in addition to a camera, get a casefeeder and another toolhead so you can have one head for processing brass, and another head for charging, checking, seating and crimping. The casefeeder eliminates the penalty of loading cases on the press twice, and you will be able to move cases full of powder around and seat bullets without the simultaneous high forces of resizing and expanding brass. Plus, you'll get to use lube for those processes and still have clean cases to put powder in.
