How many states can you conceal carry in?

I'm a little confused by that map. I have a resident permit in New York and non-resident permits in Connecticut, Florida, and Utah. When I put that info in the map, I get 36 states, but it doesn't include Maine, even though the starting map says Maine has Constitutional carry.

I’m good in all 50, but there’s a couple that I won’t set foot in, as a matter of principle.
I feel the same way; unfortunately, I have adult children or siblings residing in states such as New York and Illinois. There's actually more than a couple states with politics that frost my butt (a former home state, California, is one), regrettably, I have so much family spread all over, and so many friends I don't want to lose touch with, that I am compelled to visit others (the curse of being the one with the disposable income, the ability and the time for travel) in states whose politics I abhor.

Note to others: flying in to La Guardia, Newark, Dulles, Reagan or BWI with a firearm in one's checked baggage is not for someone lacking in patience. Also, there's these pesky considerations such as magazine capacity limitations in some of these commie states.

It's an island. Take a boat out of a more gun friendly state and sail right on up. Might be a long voyage out of N.C. since that's probably the nearest coastal state that fits the bill.
Never thought about the places that reciprocate with Ohio. We were late to the party here and some states held that against us for a while. If I got really lost I might end up across state lines, but all my neighbors are cool. I have no desire to be more than 3-4 hours from home.
That’s an idea although not sure what the cities harbor patrol is like. City limits would most likely encompass all water approaches also.

Looks like 29 for me. Florida and Texas are not included. I'm going to have to fix that.
Zero interest in the other 19 states.

It appears I'm ok in 34ish states, Illinois permit covers most, Florida permit covers a couple down south. Looks like a few states out west and several in the north east don't recognize my permits. I've never been to new England and don't plan to check it out anytime soon so I think I'm ok.
Cc laws are a violation of my rights and I don't like to think about needing a permission slip to defend myself, maybe someday they'll have national permits available...

All 50 and DC, plus US protectorates, i.e., Puerto Rico, Guam, Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and Northern Mariana Islands.

Retired LE with up to date annual qualification.

And that right there is the reason we have so many problems. Just like our legal system, it is two tiered at least. Why is this not an option for a regular joe? As long as the training requirement was the same.

While I am glad you have the ability, I would like to see the same for anyone.

Sorry for the hijack! Not very high road of me.

I’d travel as I pleased and leave the gun at home if required. Its a big world out there and its pretty damn safe.

Be nice if the states all agreed to it, but that probably won't happen. Reciprocity of driver's licenses was done by the states, not the Feds, and that didn't happen until 1933, long after people had started driving here.

If it ever happens, it will probably be the result of Federal legislation.

The number is quite low, at the moment, until I can renew my LEOSA qual. The PD academy has closed its range, for the duration of the public health emergency. (I found two places I can qual, if I drive a few hours, each way. I am likely to make that drive, soon. )

I legally carried in two neighboring states, a couple of days ago. No license/permit needed.

I was about to get my Texas LTC, this spring, to fill some holes that still exist in the LEOSA, due to the way it is worded, but pandemic situation interrupted that. I am, of course, now kicking myself for waiting so long to get my Texas LTC.

Which will never happen as long as elected officials remain convinced that they're there because the general public is incapable of thinking and making decisions for themselves.

I've come to realize, its not that they think you're not smart enough, but rather their lust for power over you.

It’s tangential but relevant.

It’s extremely safe....... until it isn’t.

Some of you in LE may not be aware that the liberal progressive can, and some LEO's who don't take their oath seriously may participate, enforce the silly laws restricting the magazine size and type of ammo you carry in their state. It sounds like 'knit picking', but a friend of mine, a fellow LEO, went to the east coast last year and he learned it the hard way. :fire:

Those are the states that I avoid if at all possible.
If any of my family ever moved to one of those states, they will need to make plans to visit me if they feel the need to see me.

My wife has only a couple (her brother and his wife) of relatives left in California, and we figure it like this - if they want to see us, unlike freedom, the road between Idaho and California runs both ways.;)
That said, even though Idaho is a constitutional carry state for the most part, my wife and I went ahead and took the class and got our Idaho Enhanced Concealed Weapons Licenses last year for two reasons: first, because the “enhanced” versions are necessary for legal concealed carry on Idaho’s college and university campuses - my wife and I still have ties with ISU, so we end up on campus there occasionally. And second, because in Idaho CCW licenses make firearms purchases from FFL dealers easier (no phone-in background checks).
I don’t know how many states my wife’s and my Idaho Enhanced Concealed Weapons Licenses are good in - a bunch I guess. But our Instructor for our class repeated himself 3 or 4 times, emphasizing that they’re not good in California. That’s too bad. Even though she’s loath to admit it, my wife was born and raised there.:(
