looking for a rifle to suppress. Thinking of a .300 Blackout so I can go subsonic. I’ve got plenty of lowers.

FWIW, I’m looking at a suppressor for both the Blackout and something I can use in my 7 mag.

Any thoughts on a specific brand that’s available, and any tips or ideas appreciated

Are you looking for a specific price point? My experience is limited but it seems like price point and features make more difference than brand.

Then again I only had a PSA and a parts built generic one. They were pretty much the same except for a few features I selected. Maybe when you get to the high end brand makes a difference.

My main advice given the info you gave is to make sure the handguard doesn’t extend too close to the muzzle. That’s the problem I ran into with one of the .300 uppers I bought... the handguard blocked the can. Might have been a perfect fit with a different can but it didn’t work at all with what I had, until I replaced the handguard.

Obviously I don’t want to spend thousands on an upper, but anything reasonable would be fine. I’m not into cheapest thing possible

Got thinking.....the paperwork for the suppressor takes a while, so I guess I have some time. First suppressor, so I need to figure out if thread pattern are standard or if they vary.

Here's a 300 Blackout pistol with a Silencerco Chimera. The can threads on to a muzzle device that replaces the flash hider. You can buy extras to put on other platforms as you see fit. 20200614_121422.jpg 20200614_121240.jpg The upper is a PSA 10.5" with an Mlok tube. I've been really happy with it so far. It is very quiet with subsonic ammo. Good luck!

300 blackout makes a lot of sense regarding suppression unless you want to get into the Socom round... Something to consider, the 300 Blkout works well with a short barrel. So 8.5" minumum will do the job, 10.5 to 12 inch is ideal to me. But, putting short barrel uppers on your existing "rifle" lowers with a stock can cause trouble NFA wise unless you go with two stamps.

16 inch or more on barrel length isn't necessary unless its just what you want. With a 10.5" plus can length it ends up being a similar overall length as a typical carbine upper when combined.

I built my 300 Blackout with all Aero Precision parts. I found great deals. I don’t know if this is feasible for you but I highly recommend them as a completed upper as well. The Ballistic Advantage barrel I have in it is among my most accurate. Which is unfortunate, I have a Valkyrie as well...

The Blackout is a very niche cartridge, but if that is what you need, very few other cartridges come even close. Bushmaster isn’t really for slow and Socom is almost too much awesome.

I have to plug Ecco Machine for a suppressor manufacturer. @MachIVshooter is armpit deep in work right now, as a testament to his great work, but things are evening out now. And he is as helpful as he is busy.:)

Get a good 30 cal can and you can use it for every thing 30 cal and smaller. I have an AAC SDN-6 and have run it on 308 Win, 6mm CM, 223 Rem, and 300 BO. 300 BO subsonic is the most fun. I have a 9-in pistol that is allot of quiet fun with subsonic ammo.

I would not recommend AAC any more due to the financial trouble AAC and it's parent company Remington are in. But a similar system utilizing a quick mount is very handy.

Good point. If you put a pistol upper on your factory rifle you better have had paid the $200 tithe to the King first.
