Think I'll order one coming soon, I shot one of these in jrotc or the 753 I can't quite remember. I did shoot a few 300s with it and liked it. I can't remember what stock it had maybe the sporter, reading online seems guys like the Monte Carlo best.

So who has one and likes shooting them, are there any other uses of fun shooting games you like. My lgs had some nra 10m targets I'll pick up.

I use mine indoors predominately. Winter or rainy weather, paper targets. Outside paper or sometimes paintballs off of golf tees.

What do you use for a trap/stop. I was thinking of making one like we used in jrotc. I'll have to check with my next door neighbors about outside, I'm kinda surround all around tho.

I know these are weak, but remember they would flatten a pellet when hitting the trap. My dad has some chipmunks that are all over, I can stand 10 feet from them. A head shot should kill them?.

This isn't the best pic but I made two of these out of scrap lumber. The inside back is lined with duct seal[from Home Depot]. My outside one has a carry handle but otherwise identical. Google 'Silent Pellet trap" for ideas.
I think the 853 would kill chipmunks at short range but others will correct me if wrong.

Nice, I'll figure something out, making it easy to recover the lead would be nice I can use it for bp round balls.

Does anyplace make a pellet mold, would be fun to make some

Nice shooters. A lot of info on the web. I believe they still use them at Camp Perry compt. If you get into Air rifles you might want to join a dedicated Air Rifle forum.
I have plenty of different back stops. I have the Duct Putty, but also you can take a Cloth Grocery back and fill with old rag and clothes. I have one indoors that I tood a old Plastic laundry container, filled with clothes and hooked up a light.

Pellets are easily collected in bag to discard. If the bag wears out, just replace it with another one for $.05 cents.

Not really getting into air rifle, I just shot one of these in jrotc for a few months and liked it for what it was.

Cool! looking forward to a range report :D
I have to get some pellets one day, spent all my money on the gun lol. I'll get a tin of crosman premier or something for now. My ffl had some of the NRA 10m targets I'll have to see when he is open.

I got the Monte Carlo stock, I used the sporter in jrotc but read guys like the mc better.

I have a 853 in sporter stock. I went to CMP North Store to hand pick a Garand but came back with a 853! They have a dozen 853s on the rack and sporter stock is more nature in my hands in particular when cocking the lever. The "pistol grip" looks cool but is not really needed in my opinion while air rifles do not need to pull back to the shoulder and supposedly very light grip. When I shoot air rifles, my thumb does not loop over the stock to form a grip anyway. The trigger needs to work on. CMP has an instruction

I only polished the parts, filed down the "sear" engagement to reduce the creep. Shoot well, but I don't shoot in competition.

Ill see if i can find some .177s, i had a few tins from back before i switched to larger calibers.

All this airgun talk saw me ordering a Xs-25 from FD last night lol.

Thanks for the link Ya I did the trigger on the one I used in jrotc years ago, I'd like to get a sporter stock someday as well.

Anyone know if the walther barrels are marked, I don't know if the 853 used them tho.

Walmart here used to offer a decent sellection of the normal cheap crap, but a couple stores have/had some of the better stuff. Ive been ordering online so long im not sure what i anyone stocks now.

Normally there daisy, crosman and gamo pellets but shelves are empty, not even a fishing pole in the store.

I'll start thinking of a pellet stop to build.
