Have any guns used in "The Walking Dead" enhanced any curiosity?

....Could be ....

I'm hesitant to be absolutist. I've thought I recalled things in tv series/movies only to, when watching them again, proved my memory is not always correct.

Enjoy the gun scenes while you can, they eventually and slowly get phased out over time. I used to love watching TWD, wife too. Rick's python, my LGS just got one in a couple weeks ago and it still doesnt have a price tag. 20 years ago an older cousin of mine bought 2 consecutive pythons in a collector case for $600!!!!!!!! I dont know if he still has em, luckiest score in gun buying history. Except for the Colts I've bought for pennies on the dollar.....lol

Edited out stuff about the show because I just saw Robert’s post. It’s a tv show based on a comic so, no, I could care less about the guns.

Nope. Then again I got bored with the show after a few episodes.

I will admit to occasionally checking out imfdb on my phone while watching TV, but I can’t think of any cases where I saw something on TV/at a movie where it really caused me to think I was learning valuable strategy or tactics information. Generally shows seem to try their best to figure out what *not* to do, and then present it as a good idea because it looks cool.

I don't know.
Rick's Python is the most known gun in the series, but it was always popular and sought after.

One point they dd get right was when Rick shot the walker inside the tank. When he was about to do it, I cringed thinking they were going to gloss over the fact that he was in a very small contained space and shooting .357 magnum, and have no ill effect on his hearing.
They actually did good with him hurting his ears and them ringing so bad he was disoriented.
I imagine that would indeed be the case.

Ya, but I cried foul on that scene because he crawled through the tanks belly hatch to avoid the walkers.....and Abrams tanks dont have belly hatches. M60s do, but they had all been pulled from service long before that incident was supposed to occur. They used a British Chieftan to film the scene, painted in US Army colors.

Interestingly, they show The Governors forces using an M60 later to attack the prison. The folks over at TWD wiki rationalized that by saying it could have been a "gate gaurdian" recovered from a base plinth- though Im pretty sure even those have their main gun breech blocks removed.

I started watching the show in the 3rd season . The show did not influence any of my gun buying decisions.
Remember the show is not really about the zombie horde. It about other people.

In my whole life, I have never made any decisions about anything based on a zombie movie. Well ..... once .... when I was 6, I started making sure the monsters in my bedroom closet couldn't get me by closing the door before I got into bed, but I got over it.

Not really, no. I enjoyed the first few seasons then lost interest once it stopped being about zombie survival and more about survivor on survivor politics, especially when one marksman in the woods with a .308 would have solved so many of the "bad guy grandstanding in the open" problems in about 3 seconds.

But, since I haven't seen it linked yet.

Ricks Python was cool, I remember one other case when they found a couple of dead cops and used their Glocks to get out of a sticky situation. But for the most part it's been a Joke.

I recall Maggies fathers Shotgun that had an extremely high capacity magazine, with an almost endless supply of rounds that appeared to have a normal 5 sound tube. He fired at least 60 shots and never reloaded, I've been trying to find one with no success.

I recall Daryl and Rick going after the Deuce that Nagins crew used and destroying it instead of trying to capture it intact to use against Nagin. That boneheaded move was simply a joke

But to me the worse part is the last season when apparently all ammo and firearms are disabled as NO ONE seems to have them to fight the whisperers. Considering more than a few of them have reloading skills I find it suspends reality too much. Especially considering the story occurs in VA and GA where every house has a few thousand rounds of 9mm and 5.56 in the basement.

My viewing began with the first episode, at least three weeks ago, now watching the third season.

The ergos of revolvers have always puzzled me, and despite this they now have a bit more appeal than in the past. How most people would hit anything continues to surprise me. Maybe because they are south of Atlanta-Not Hollywood!

It was a joy to watch somebody use an all-black Norinco or similar type of AKM in a prison scene. This truly warmed my heart, and almost shed a tear during this.
A master list somewhere else includes an MP-40 for whichever later scene (*again: I'm on Season Three). Wish they had included a Thompson Machine Gun.

Thankfully no.

All my guns that are even a bit in the look alike class of what they play with.

All my guns have front AND rear sights and never stored in an open barrel outside !!.

After being a fan of the show for YEARS,I got tired of all the fantasy that the british actors did with tools they had no knowledge of ,nor respoect for.

How many British Actors have actually either earn their livelihoods by Craftsmanship using tools they own? Or came from families that did?

No. Once in a while I used to catch a glimpse of some firearm, and wonder what the heck is that? Then, Oh Yea, it's a whatever.

Can't help but notice that in recent seasons, firearms and shooting are being phased out. As if all the guns have been worn out, lost, or ? Maybe pretending that all the hundreds of billions of rounds of ammo likely in existence are all used up? I guess it amps up the dramatic tension when the actors only have sharp sticks, clubs, blades and the occasional arrow or bolt launcher to save themselves..........

In any case, the series has not "enhanced my curiosity" about this or that firearm, or caused me to pursue purchasing anything other than what I might normally.

I do expect that our new social/political "normal" will be evidenced in episodes created from now on....

Realistically? Well all mechanical devices are subject to wear and tear. Plus parts do break for other reasons on top of that. With ammo being used at a high rate, with no one around making new ammo or supplying the raw materials to the ammo factories or even any workers around. Ammunition would be gone much sooner then you think...

scaatylobo: Your motto "A bad day living beats a good day dead" is perfect for this.

Had I become interested in handguns before about age 61 (2016), the wide variety of handguns and rifles--compared to other shows--would not have grabbed my attention.

GAF: Good point, that the show is not mostly about the zombie hordes.
Mankind for thousands of years has revealed its cruelty and unpredictability. The first documented (by archaeology) murders in Britain were an adult male, female and two children, hastily buried about 6,000 years ago.
The adult male still had an arrowhead in his ribcage.
