Who is shooting less?

I had been shooting about twice a week up until a couple weeks ago, but those trips usually amounted to about 50rds each in a couple of handguns...or maybe 50 through a .22 and 15 or so in a bolt rifle. Weeds are high, tractor's got a bad hydraulic pump. So no "shooting" except for function tests and .22 cb's in the back yard when the starlings land on the swimming pool.

I am shooting more and reloading more this year. Actually added a caliber (45 colt) and started reloading 9mm again. My indoor range never closed and the outdoor range was closed for a few weeks. Reloading supplies are not hard to find around here (maybe primers but I don't need to shop for those).

Shooting center fire much less, Preparing much more. (Obviously). However shooting 22.cal at least twice a week which is a schedule I have maintained for years with all calibers and shotguns. Gun of choice now is the Ruger LCR22. Short barrel, point and shoot skills stay honed while preserving Centerfire ammo that will be needed in the very near future.

Bingo!

I even bought a few more. I’ll never own a P08 Luger or a C96 Mauser Broomhandle, but I’ve got airgun replicas now.

The last ammo shortage we had years ago, 22.cal was almost non existent. I turned to my airguns. Started shooting every day almost. So easy to do. I was worried that when I made my return to powder burners, my point and shoot skills would be off. On the contrary, they were better than they had ever been.

My outdoor range has remained open and with many other places being closed, the range has been my sanctuary. So yeah, I shoot quite a bit more and am running low on 9mm. But, have been able to find plenty on 22LR to go with the stash I already had. Having bought 2 new .22s in the last few months, range trips are high on my to-do list.

I have a handgun range on the property. Also I am a Life Member of Millvale Sportsmen Club but the drive is a bit much to get their (As in 8 plus hours one-way) Closer to home I am a land share owner in a shooting association but don't go there often because I no longer shoot across the course rifle competition. Going back to handgun shooting I have enough reloading components to shoot on a regular basis for couple years along with commercial ammunition. After shooting handguns for 50+Yrs I think, I've got the hang of it. What is perishable is the number of days I've got ahead of me as opposed to all those days behind me!

Many of the ranges were closed until the Phase 1 or Phase 2 reopenings in Texas, too.
And, it's now well into the upper 90s here in Texas pretty common for 80º "by 8 (0800) and "90 by nine" (0900).

Haven't shot a single thing since the last day of February.

My job has an 7-8 hr time difference from home. So I'm up at all hours of the night for online meetings, reports, etc. Too hot nowadays once I miss the 6-8am ideal time to go.

We’re actually shooting a little more than usual for this time of year. Mainly just rimfire (22LR) though.
A few weeks ago some rancher friends of ours invited us over to put a dent in their ground squirrel (over)population. The first time we (my wife and I) went, we took our 22-250s and a couple of 22LR rifles. However, we quickly learned the 22-250s were just silly considering how many ground squirrels were within 40 yards of where we parked the truck.
So the next time we drove over to our friend’s ranch for a few hours of ground squirrel extermination, we left the 22-250s home, and took a couple of 22LR handguns (my Glock 44 and my wife’s Ruger Bearcat) along with our 22LR rifles. We made dinner for a few buzzards with our 22LR handguns too.;)

Mixed. I was hitting the indoor range that opened last year 5 minutes from the house on a weekly or more basis and have become a much better shot with handguns. Since early March I haven't set foot in there because I am trying to stay away from people indoors. OTOH, I have been shooting in the forest almost weekly. When I go with the kids we blow through a brick of 22 and maybe some 38 special. When it is solo I am doing serious work with muzzleloaders. In those cases, I might get up to a measly 40 shots, but burn almost half a pound of powder.

I miss my "home" indoor range. Staying hunkered in the bunker for now. I cast and don't care about bullet shortages (just looked at Missouri's site and can't believe their backlog), and I stocked plenty of components and stuff I don't load. Might have to think about picking up some more 9 Mak before it is gone, but other than that I am good. Depending on which tags I end up getting, this might be the year of the black powder, round ball hunt for me big time (deer, elk and bear possibly).

I’m shooting much less, but not ammo or COVID caused...just have less time and opportunities. But I recently bought a PSA 10 (.308) and the scope and mount come in tomorrow, so I need to get out and shoot that soon.

not shooting at all since January. learned at the end of January that our dept was to be dissolved by end of May. didn't feel like shooting much at all. I'm just happy i was blissfully unaware of the future when i bought $500 + worth of primers last December. range has reopened mid May but still limiting going out to grocery, part time work and finally one haircut since the pandemic started. i am indulging in my other main interest a, biking a lot.

FINALLY
Some MI State ranges are open-thurs-fri-sat-sun
6' distance--wear face mask when closer or indoors.
Appears they have a lack of workers

Range yesterday with G-43 & G-43X as they both got new Apex triggers.

Had to T&E them prior to carrying ,so fired just over 100 rounds through both at 9 yards.

Accuracy was just 'ok',but function was great, other than one box of Aguila 117 HP's,neither Glock liked the HP and would not feed 100%.

Then got to help a father & his adult sons with pistol shooting.

They had never had classes and it showed = BIG TIME.

I was thrilled to see their groups shrink by a easy to measure number.

Then got a big thank you from dad and his sons, made my day !!

I've cut back. I still pop in and put a couple mags downrange every so often, but it's been only a couple mags, and only on the one pistol I've designated for primary defense. I used to bring multiple pistols to the range, and go through maybe half a case easy. I had been in a habit of taking, say, five or so at a time, and comparing them for accuracy.

Early in Covid, I went ahead and got a C308 (Cetme style rifle), I did get some ammo and went through the break in period with it. Shot until I got it running consistently. The more I shot it, the smoother it ran.

Last couple times I've been (my range is also my FFL), they've been swamped. People everywhere, milling about, buying at the counter, all lanes full of shooters. People working there were harried and stressed. Not an atmosphere I want to be dealing with. So I get in and do what I need, and get out. I don't like that, it's been my fun place.
