I was helping mrs assemble her homemade outdoor fountain near the patio when my 86yo dad popped in my shop for a shot of air in his Honda ATV tire . I grumbled as I limped my plantar fasciitis foot the 100yd walk to my shop. He hinted that he was going to ride the trails down in the riverbottom across my bridge and past the elevated hunting blind. Despite the fact that I have not been on that property since probably March. I declined to join him since I had my work cut out for me to prepare for the family bbq we were hosting that evening.
I was beginning to get back to work when it dawned on me that my 86yo dad had just invited me to go on a ATV trail ride in one of my favorite places on earth. The dust hadn't settled on the 1 mile dirt road before I was flying down the road on my own Honda in hot pursuit. He had already crossed my bridge before I caught up with him. We had a good laugh as I tracked him through the lush grass and rolled up behind him giving him a good startle.

If you look closely, you can see dad's beloved ruger MKIV automatic worn crossdraw on his left hip.
Two new hips, two knees, fused neck vertebrae....the old usmc vet is still pretty rough customer.
We rode past the blind and a couple of food plots, and a couple of winding trail through our property. Then we paused on the bridge long enough for me to try my luck with my pack rod for some river bass (no luck).
The next stop was the old pioneer's cemetary on our way back home. He pointed out the two grave markers where his infant aunts were laid to rest before the turn of the 20th century.
The day ended with a big bbq rib feast with my parents, mrs' parents, al, of our kids, grandkids, and my sis and bnl.
We celebrated father's day, birthdays, and graduation that we missed during covid and planting season.
A great day!
Happy father's day to all THR dads!
