So my FIL comes over Saturday and says he has something for me.
He pulls an old MEC 600 Jr. out of his truck. The thing looks like it was left sitting for years without being used. There is a little rust on it but not much, but it is seized up.
He got it at an estate sale. He went and they had $15 on it and 2 full bags of wads.
He left and came back later in the day and they had everything half price, so he grabbed it for $7.50 with the wads.
It was crazy.

We took it in the shop and I sprayed it down with Ballistol. We let it sit for about 5 minutes while I showed him my other MEC 600 Jr. that was identical to it but it perfect working order. After 5 minutes I sprayed it down again.
After about 15 minutes it broke free and functioned fairly well.
I took off the die parts and cleaned them well. I wiped the rust off the big shank and spring the best I could. I cleaned the priming cup and spring and it functioned properly.

The darn thing works. I loaded 5 rounds last night while the wife video'd it and I sent it to him. He was stoked.

I had been wanted to grab another one so I wouldn't have to keep going back and forth between 2 3/4" and 3" adjusting it.
Now I have one set up for each all the time. It's awesome.

For $7.50. SMH

hold onto that wife......she has a great dad.....

I have several. Different guages and different lengths. I usually get them for $50-$75 so he got a steal and you got a great gift. Glad you did not have to get a caiber conversion too. Those are a PITA to change. Now the challenge will be to wear it out.:D

Someday, I'll get lucky. The luck better hurry though. Times running out.

Great wife and great FIL. She videos your hobby and he augments it.

while cruising the local park-and-swap, i found a starrett 1" micrometer in a plastic mitutoyo case marked $10. could not get the money out fast enough. nice find!
