I am having trouble with all of my current belts, whether carrying a holster or not, but especially so with the extra load on the belt. I am also showing signs of what I believe to be a metals allergy because everywhere the belt buckles touch I get blisters after a few hours. I have pretty well decided that a duty belt type setup is going to be best for me, but I need something that is either Velcro or plastic clip latched just because of the metals issue. I have swapped over to suspenders for the time being just to keep pants up but that leaves nowhere for a holster, and I have a house full of fashion police that have placed me under house arrest if I’m wearing the suspenders, but for work I do wear the suspenders over a white t shirt and then put a polo over it. The metals issue has gotten so bad that even wearing a regular belt to dinner for a couple hours causes trouble.

I like the look of leather, but I really need no metal. I usually carry about 6 pounds on the belt, and I have a 40” waist so I know some belts stop in that length range. I’m very open to suggestions.

I purchase a belt some years ago from Galls. It has no buckle, just velcro. I have used it with and without a CCW. I have worn it out but still use it.

On another note, have you consulted your PCP about your allergy?
Yes, they blew it off, I will get a new one next time I need prescriptions renewed. I did have allergy tests ran a few years ago and had nothing hit as positive but a couple were questionable. I suspect that it’s a very mild allergy that is being problematic now because of the cumulative duration of exposure day after day in the same spot.

I have a similar, perhaps not as severe, of a problem with metals against my skin. Chrome plated anything, brass, copper, and a few others will eventually give me a rash...and my body chemistry will attack and tarnish and pit those metals. For watches, they all have to be either stainless steel or plastic. May want to try a belt with a stainless buckle. The other thing I found with belts is the wide 1.5" belts with the even wider buckle, while great for distributing the weight of my carry rig...are not big guy friendly. I'm down from a 44" to a 34" over this past year, and in the 44 size, those big buckles, regardless of what they were made of, would be jammed between my belly and pelvis when sitting. That would cause problems even with stainless. So I would either get a thinner belt which didn't support the gun as well but still worked ok, or hike my pants up and wear them around my belly button. That worked, and was able to conceal a little better, as at 3 o'clock it puts the grip in the gap between my arm and torso. Kinda made me look like my grandpa though.... I recently bought a cheap 34" belt, and I thought I would be ok, but it's been only a month or so and I'm already starting to eat thru the chrome plate and getting into the brass underneath. I'm also now on the hunt for a good belt with a stainless buckle

I have problems with plated metals and jewelry also. I have not had any problems yet with my Desantis gun belt. I'm skinny with a beer belly and wear a size 34 belt for IWB carry.

I bought a Blue Alpha Gear nylon belt with the steel reinforcing liner in it. It seemed pretty good but I ended up not liking it. I liked it because the belt clip was super low profile. The main reason why was because the velcro didn't allow enough adjustment between IWB carry and no gun carry. When you carry a double stack pistol IWB it tends to take up a lot of room. That belt was less than $40 though and they did free size swaps.

I have also been looking at a new belt at "The Belt Man" but haven't made up my mind which one. The velcro fastener one has my attention, I want something that won't scratch my guitars (Martins) but will keep my carry piece in place. Anyone used them and wants to comment, it will be appreciated.

Have a blessed day,

Leon

I need one too....over the weekend I have been reading , and looking at those kore essentials belts , they have some very nice features , I think they will work good with my 1911's and my 629's ..........Good luck with the allergy......

I started and advocated slide belts years ago. That is all I will wear now. My regular belts are slide belts and my Gun belts are slides. A whole lot of advantages and ease of use. Most especially for carry, hunting, hiking etc.

My reinforced Beltman has a metal buckle so it wouldn't probably work for OP, but it's by far the nicest belt I own and I wear it daily carrying or not. I'd recommend the brand, anyway. Not the cheapest but worth the money. I also have a low profile Blue Alpha belt and it's pretty nice for casual dress. Kind of a pain dealing with the velcro, though.
