Got to the range with some 10mm to try over the new chrono. Shot from my glock 40

9.2gr longshot 180gr jhp zero 1.27 OAL, 14 rounds:
Average 1333fps
ES 33
SD 10

Pretty happy with those numbers!

I had 4 rounds of max load at 9.5 grains remaining from my initial workup without a chrono. They only gained 9fps average, but thats a small sample

Also had some factory stuff so tested what I had.

6 shots with hornady 200gr xtp:
Average 1047 fps
ES 40
SD 13.8

5 rounds of winchester 175gr silvertip jhp:
Average 1234fps
ES 42
SD 16.5

After trying a RI 1911, Springfield XDM in 10MM I’m back to the G20. Wasn’t happy with the accuracy in the first 2 so I Blue Label purchased a Gen 4 G20 and replaced the factory barrel with a KKM Precision one. I still have old data when I had my first G20 Gen 3 with a 6” Storm Lake barrel so I’m starting to work up loads for the new G20. Like an idiot, I sold the first G20 for some dumb reason..

I use Longshot for 9mm and .40 and will give it a go with 10MM as well. Thanks for sharing.

Nice! I traded for a G20c few years back, that's what got me started in reloading. Just recently got a chrono so having fun seeing what I came up with without one and If anything needs addressed.
I tried some longshot in 40 before I could check velocity, but the books say it does some impressive things in that caliber (and some others). Definitely felt strong anywhere even approaching max in 40. Looking forward to seeing what it really runs.

I saw the 1333 fps velocity and thought that load was really hot, then I realized it was from a 6" barrel. :) I get a little over 1200 fps from my 4.75" barrel, with different powders (AA#9, Bluedot, BE86, and Power Pistol) and 180gn bullets. I'm not going for max velocity, though.

I'm not a Glock fan, but if I have always thought if I buy one it would be the long-slide 40.

I'll probably load up some 800x again just to see what it offers one day.

Hornady 9th book tells me my longshot load is over max . They say 8.2 but everyone else says 9.5gr. max

Hornady has a higher max for 800x than everyone else at 10.1 vs 8.4, 8.6,and 8.7grs that I found for other sources. Been told it used to be that high in most sources. Did my workups before I had the hornady book and tried it up to 8.7gr. So could just work up from there I guess. They all worked , but no velocity data from that.

Hornady data is typically a little on the overly conservative side compared to other manuals from my experience, but I have to admit they do put out some pretty healthy 10mm load data.

Those are pretty impressive numbers. Makes me giggle like a little kid as I just recently acquired the S&W TRP 10mm in a long slide too. Thanks for posting.
