I ordered the 853 with the Monte Carlo about noon on Monday, just before 12:00 FedEx dropped it off. Very quick and even the box was nice with good thick foam.

I opened the box and found the gun was wrapped very well with bubble wrap. In side was a brand new daisy rear peep sight, looks like the base is aluminum, i thought they were all plastic. Even had a Allen wrench with instructions.
There was the order sheet and a avanti operators manuual. A new nylon black one point sling, 2 stock spacers there both .625 thick.

Looking it over im very happy to gun they sent, wood looks great. There's a few small dings and a scratch or two but in great condition.
The front sight/muzzle weight looks brand new as well.

I am waiting on pellets so I can't try the trigger, I will look and see if it's had the trigger mod done. Muzzle crown looks good, I have to check the bore with a light but given its outside condition it should be fine.

One the sling w attachment point there's a light film of rust, a little oils and steal wool will take it right off.

I hope I can shoot it this weekend, overall in very happy with it. I shot one in jrotc in high school and liked it them.

Oh anyone know if you can date these.

I made up a quick bullet stop should work for now.

Mine is significantly uglier than that, but it shoots like nobody's business. Cheap fun, and offhand practice in the basement, with a milkcrate trap.
Ya mine seems in pretty good shape, the one I shot in jrotc looked like crap but accuracy was amazing. Wish I had a basement, I'll try to set something up out side, but hard since I have houses all around me.

shoot down a hall? you can use almost anything of reasonable density to stop a 450fps .177 (i thought those were faster till i looked it up)
They should be like 510 but no one has ever seen one lol, daisy always adds like 10% it seems. My hall way is long enough but there's hardly any time when no one's it's home, have my sister's two kids there. But the days when there gone I'll give it a go.

Small update,
I haven't had the money to get pellets for testing, but went to Wal-Mart today and they had some Feldman 7.4gr pointed premier pellets. I'm still waiting for my lgs to open, since I know he has nra 10 meter targets. Stoped in tractor supply and they had some 5 meter bb targets, they work fine with the sights since I think there the same circle but the 5 meter dot is 1/2 size.

Passed off 5 good steps and half for good measure. The 853 shoot these pretty good since there cheap and pointed. First shot hit low, moved up 4 clicks. I shot 24 more shots.

These were prone with no support just my left elbow no sling. I'm happy so far it's more accurate them I can be.

1st pellets I try in any airgun are what's available locally[usually Crosman]. I have an R7 that loves H&N Field Target trophy 8.64gr. A QB78d .22 loves JSB 14.89gr. My 853 loves Crosman wadcutters. Rather than try a lot of pellets I peruse the forums here and get ideas what to try if the Crosmans aren't working well.

I know in jrotc we used beeman for practice, they shot great. They don't seem very popular anymore, don't even know if I seen any for sale.
I've had good luck with the crosman pellets in the few air guns I had. The crosman 1322 my dad has shoots the premier wad cutters dry well.
