I like my colt 6920. i have other brands and they arent bad, but the colt is the best I own and no not cause of the pony.

they make a better ar than many brands, not all but many, accept it cause it true.

Colt whores only go the way the wind blows, five years later. I have four old colts, won't be buying any more after they crapped on the normal American consumer way back when the gubmint contracts took over their minds and finances.

Okay dokie, then. "Colt whores?" I've been shooting and buying Colts for almost 50 years. And I'm still buying Colts. So are you calling me a "whore?"

Guessing you don't buy any consumer products then, given the state of manufacturing and business in the USA over the past 50 years. Ah, it's good to be so self-righteous ...

kind of crossed the line, there didn't you? First Colt the U.S. Army lent me. Then I bought a Colt SP-1, Colt Series 70 1911 .45, Colt SP-1 Carbine, then a Colt LE 6920. Colt's wind has been blowing my way for fifty years,

All you guys hating on Colt and promising to never buy another, please PLEASE PLEASE continue your boycott. The fewer Colt ARs all y'all buy, the easier it'll be for me to find my next one when I've got the money. I suggest you particularly run from the M4A1 and AR15A1 models like Calvin at the sight of a bathtub.

Meh, who cares. Better options nowadays, this isn’t 1985. Colt was best back when people drank Sanka and bought cubes of jello from the rotating display at the front of a diner. Even the military is going w FN. This is as exciting as a new Oldsmobile. Colt ... it was your father’s AR 15.

...and the FN does what better?

Never mind. You're right. Colts are boring. Don't buy boring

Yes, I noticed. Love 'em or hate 'em they're the standard others are measured by.

I’ve never used them as a standard, too low in features for my desires, wants and expectations. There are much better options now in 2020. But they are a solid barebones AR, that’s about it.

Glad they are selling to consumers again, the more AR’s in civilians hands the better in my book.

Cue the talk about specifications, inspections and tolerances that Colt is privy to, that makes them magical :p. Colt threads like on every forum march by the beat of the same drum.

Here is a video that is fairly enlightening:

Funny the "paying for a name brand" "commodity parts" checked out pretty well on all the gauges.

Hmmmm...... maybe Colt actually knows what they are doing.

Uh, yeah, someone's not been keeping up on the world of AR rifles. Anyway, not gonna lie, I like me some Noveske and Daniel Defense rifles. But really? Better options cost substantially more than a new Colt 6920, so I'm not sure what the point is that you're trying to make. I'm still issued a Colt M4, and I'm happy with it. BTW, my dad carried an M-1. Some of you youngsters need to get over the whole patronizing b.s. attitude.

Re-reading through the thread kinda makes me think the OP might have been a drive-by troll post. I'm sure he knew that drama would ensue.

Finally, I'm starting to think that the more features civilians want on their ARs is in inverse proportion to the amount of time they've spent using (not on the square range) an AR in real life ...

Samuel Colt himself is reputed to have said, at the start of the Civil War, "make hay while the sun shines." This sort of attitude is why business people are held in low regard. The only thing that matters to them is the bottom line. And the temporary bottom line at that.
Kinda hard to stay in business when you're not making money.

The question is, why is profit held in such low regard? People like going to work and collecting a paycheck but begrudge the guy who owns the building and the company they work for making money at it.

Disclaimer here. My sole AR is a 6920 and in general I am not a huge fan of AR's. When people asked my opinion on purchasing one, I always recommended a Colt, until they were discontinued. If someone called today, I would once again recommend it. I was an infantryman for a few years and have lots of trigger time on the platform. My personal 6920 is of a much higher quality than anything I pulled from a US Army arms room in the 90's, which unfortunately is not saying much.

My prediction is that Colt will be able to sell as many 6920's in the $1,200 range they can pump out in the next 5-10 months. I am definitely not an expert on manufacturing but since Colt is set up to sell to the US and foreign militaries, that is a lot of 6920's. My issue with this whole AR buying spree is that once it has run its course a lot of good companies will go under. An AR-15 will literally last forever and is at its heart a fighting carbine. Most of the new owners will have little use for them when the current apocalypse fizzles out. This will be worse than 2 years ago when the not so lean and agile makers started to have lots of problems.

Lots and lots of upside to this though. So many new gun owners, especially in the less free states.

I gots a couple of questions.
(other than the few used by NSW) during my era's conflicts, are Colts and FN products.
What is NSW, New South Wales?

This time a nitwit salesman at RSR thought he would cash in by leaking the news to his dealer client list.
What is RSR?

“Sebastian the Ibis”. I like that moniker.

The Colt name means something to me, not because of their AR’s but because I’m an unabashed Colt Snubby fan.

Mil-Spec means nothing to me. If given a choice I’ll take Better-than-Mil-Spec.

I find Colt bashing somewhat amusing, specifically the bashing about ignoring the private sector and concentrating on government sales. Any other corporation would do the same if they thought it was the best business strategy. What I find disconcerting is Colt’s history of mismanagement that has recurred continuously almost since the company’s inception. I bet cats are jealous because from the outside looking in it looks as if Colt has more lives.

There are a few AR’s I’d rather have than a 6920, but I’d rather have a 6920 than most of the AR’s out there.

Last but not least is Palmetto State Armory. I see a lotta love for PSA, but I’m seriously underwhelmed by them for one reason. They list gobs of items on their website but every time I’ve ever gone to their website the items listed as out of stock are a much much higher percentage than items in stock. To me it looks like a VERY subtle form of bait and switch.
