Just bought a new Stoeger M3000 Tactical and got it assembled and did a function check. I noticed that the charging handle, when inserted into the bolt assembly, doesn't lock into place or have any type of retention. It can easily be removed or even shaken free. Is this typical for Stoeger (or Benelli) or is something missing inside the bolt assembly?

It should be difficult to remove if inserted properly. If inserted correctly and it comes out easily then there’s an issue.

Some early Stoeger M2000’s had an issue with the handle not staying in, enough that I had a spare just in case. Never needed it though. I’ve not heard of the 3000 series having this issue.
