Seems I am stuck being on call and unable to gather with the extended family at the farm for our anual shoot'n grill this year. Anyone here doing some "range work", maybe with others or family to celabrate our founding. Please share your joy with those of us stuck working or such.

PS: Don't forget your masks and 6' spacing where appropriate. Stay safe.

2 sons and I went up to the National Forest shooting area yesterday..before the Saturday rush..GREAT fun..Mix of Glocks(6), Ruger Vaqueros(2) and Wranglers, Uberti Bird'sHead, S&W 686/7, Ruger 556, Mini-14 and 1022..what a hoot..

Everybody stay safe, the life you may save may be one of us old farts, or your grandmother...

I think I’ll shoot some of my American guns today. Lessee... that limits me to Colts, Winchester, Remington, Mossberg, and Smith & Wesson I guess.

Oh, plus US military rifles. All my shootable blackpowder guns are Spanish or Italian.

I tried taking my wife to the indoor range yesterday to teach her to shoot a handgun, and the parking lot was overflowing and the line to enter went around the building.

Went to our club with my wife an a neighbor. Had a wonderful time, early this morning it was cool by Houston standards so we took advantage of it. Introduced our neighbor and my wife to the "Texas Star" steel plate target, lots of fun I had my two best runs ever getting all five plates with only six shots and no full rotation. We couldn't shoot rifles because there was an "AR match" going on, but we still had a great time shooting a variety of handguns at a variety of steel plate targets.

I think my wife had a breakthrough in recoil control today, she was a lot better on the IPSC steel plate silhouette targets with nice COM grouping on multiple targets at 10 yards.

All things considered, hard to imagine a better way to celebrate the 4th in the current situation. Other than my XD45 "tactical" all our iron was American made, counting my neighbor's Taurus 45.

I had a good day yesterday. We went to a friends place yesterday. He is a retired army Sargent and took 5 guns, including my Ar and the newest 243 win I picked up from Troy's dad.

I will start off by saying that a year ago when I got my Ar I was trying to talk him into one too. He kept saying he wanted to see mine first. This weekend was the first chance I had to show him the rifle. Needless to say after inspecting the rifle, checking his mags for git in the lower and firing my gun, his group lower left square, top of square in outer ring. His poa was blue square directly above

He's going to build one, wants an A 2 version.

My new to me savage m11, once I got it on paper shot this 10 round group at 30 yds. I didn't have the usual 500 yds to shoot because he had wheat in the field I shoot accrossed. IMG_20200705_192938.jpg

My 7mm08 at close distance wasn't great had a paralax problem, but my 223 savage m11 shot the upper right target 10 rounds in that group. We fished off shooting a few mags of 9 mm from my 5904 Smith. He really liked the Smith for its balance and fit.
