Gen 5 Glock 40 S&W's announced

Yeah, once Glock makes a Gen 5 for all their models I don't think the Gen 4's will be around much longer. Not that that's a big issue because I don't think anybody is going to be buying a brand new Gen 5 Glock in .40 over a trade in Gen 4 for hundreds less. The only calibers worth paying for a brand new Glock are 9 and 10mm.

I still have yet to try out the Gen 2s.

I like the Gen 3s feel, its what defined Glock.
Gen 4s are good too, but I prefer the 3s over those.

No matter what they do, it's never like we won't be able to purchase the older generation anytime we want to if we're willing to look used.

Well stocked w/ G23.4's, thank you very much.

The Gen4 - was the solution to the .40 in the 9mm pistol, with improvements and a better trigger.

Fits my hand like they made it from a clay mold.

The Gen5 appears to be a response to high-volume race shooters and whiners. Tighter chambers, no finger groves, lead bullet rifling, flared mag well, ambi-release, forward serrations...

None of that stuff will help me in a fight.

Like putting an accessory rail on the G36, another ridiculous bridge too far.

I don't much see the point in changing the rifling (outside of cost savings during manufacturing) as if I really wanted to shoot lead in a Gen 4, I would just buy a new barrel.

While Glock commands a significant market share of pistols sold, competition from other manufacturers are fierce and they are gaining on Glock and surpassing on many aspects.

For some, simple thing like finger grooves vs no finger groove may be enough to determine Glock vs M&P/Sig/Ruger purchase.

And since Glocks are so dang durable, Glock must constantly seek out new buyers for their pistols while Glock owners happily shoot tens of thousands of rounds through their Glocks ... ;)

The gen 5’s not having finger grooves is a deal breaker for me.
So will Gen3s with finger grooves become collectible? :D

Gen3 Glocks will be available with finger grooves moving forward due to CA sales. ;)

I only have Gen 3's. That spring boondoggle with the 4's should have never happened and dinged and tarnished Glocks rep forever. Gen 5 hasn't been out long enough yet and isn't proven.

They will release Gen 10 and it will still be the same story and issue because of that Gen 4 spring. I'd like the real and actual story about exactly how that happened.
